SOURCE: 95 GMC Jimmy 4.3l W vin rough idle

My problem was solved when I repaired my 4 wd activation dash switch. The switch was contacting on 2WD & 4HI at the same time. The front differential activation is vacuum activated possibly creating a tug of war that didn't actually engage it but drained off vacuum from the engine? A theory at best but stumbbled across it because I knew the switch wasn't working properly I repaired it and low and behold rough idle disappeared and all is good for 3 weeks running.

Did you change the plugs in it, In That old of a truck depending on the miles on ot , If i had it i would be putting on a new cap and rotor, Not trying to clean it up, Allso it could be the control mudle breaking down, If it was never change, There could be a problem with the fuel (Injecters) Or throtle body.

1998 grand marquis cranks but won't start. Was running fine.Used OBDII scanner tool. No error codes present.

1st. You need to change the spark plug and wires if necessary.
2nd. Check and replace the rotor distributor and cap.
3rd. Change oil filter if necessary.

Hesitation and backfiring when accelerating

there will be codes stored so the scanner in use has not got the right protocols to read the ECM
Nissan products have to be set using a screw in the ECM to get to read the codes
you have to be specific with make , model , year , type of equipment to get closer

My 2nd cylinder seems dead. When you pull the plug wire off with the car running there is no change. When you pull any of the other wires off there is a noticeable change. I have swapped the fuel injectors...

try changing you cap and rotor if you have them or your coil pack. maybe the spark isnt hot enough, try a tune up first..plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. also make sure the wires to the fuel injector on the #2 cylinder arent broken or shorting. pull the protective covering off the wires and give them a good inspection. if these dont work tae it to a repuatable shop and they can hook it up to a computer and run a full diagnostic on it for $50 to $75. they are pretty good about tracking that stuff down.

Hesitates on acceleration

Does the car always hesitate during acceleration? If it ALWAYS struggles when it starts or ALWAYS hesitates on acceleration then I would say the issue is fuel delivery. If the problems are more intermittent and come-and-go then it could be an electrical issue.

I would start by changing the fuel filter. Changing plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are all good things to do as your budget will allow. I doubt you will have to change your injectors.

If you end up replacing any rubber fuel line, be sure to use the high-pressure stuff made for use on fuel injected cars.

I hope this helps! -Nick
