Most salvage yards have interchange manuals that tell what other models will work. The steering column from a Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, or Lincoln Town Car from 90s should work. Check with a salvage yard to be sure though.
It should. I know it will physically fit, but weather the electrical controls are the same, I am not sure. If you switch the electronics off of the 99 and place them onto the 2000, you should be good. The only thing I would worry about would be the transmission. If you go to www.car-part.com and search for the part you are using. The site has a built in Hollander interchange and should list if one is compatible with the other. If it isn't listed, then there must be a difference.
If everything is working fine, then you need to decide if it is worth the time and expense of repairing the circuit that leaves the light on when it should be off. I would leave it alone and if the lamp bothers you that much you can remove it or cover it with a piece of black tape.
First check the light bulbs if they are not the reason then, Welcome to the ford world, there is a thing called LCM (light control module in the grand marquis crown vics and lincoln town cars, sometime they go bad, your best bet before you look for replacing the LCM is to look for the headlight fuse and the relay, when you are sure it is not these two, then you can be sure its the LCM
There are sensors for each corner. It sounds more like a sensor than a bag because your pump would keep running trying to raise the low corner. Your pump is shuts off.
Now you did not say if the pump will lift the other 3 corners without you having to hot wire the pump. You probably know about the shutoff in your trunk.
You should be able to find used parts in a Salvage yard. You can try Autozone or Oreillys for aftermarket parts. But the dealer and some places can use a diagnostic plug to quickly ID the problem.
Also, Ford and Mercury have Air suspension on Crown Vics and Marquis. The parts would be cheaper than those with a Lincoln badge. We used Crown Vic parts on a Mark 7.
which parts are we talking about? anything specific?
