I was driving my automatic 97 Honda Accord on the freeway when suddenly the drive light started flashing. Shortly after the engine light came on and there was a loud noise coming from the engine. When I stopped the car it just "died" on me and I had to be towed home. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Sounds like you busted a mototr mount, check it this way, open the hood and push back and forth on the car, if the motor rocks more than an inch, you have a busted motor mount, Let me know if it moves or not....Sounds like you busted a mototr mount, check it this way, open the hood and push back and forth on the car, if the motor rocks more than an inch, you have a busted motor mount, Let me know if it moves or not....

If it's running rough, chances are that it's misfiring. If the Check Engine light is flashing/blinking, it is definitely misfiring. If that's the case, drive it as little as possible... Or straight to the mechanic because the more you drive it while it's misfiring, the higher the chance is of you ruining your catalytic converter.
just how low???? i think its a new box now,,, you realy done this one in if you have lost all drive even after topping up the box with ATF its a goner sorry
94-97 accord have common issue on key ignition. Key ignition seems to corroded. Solution take it apart clean or best way is to replace it. I know because I have done it to 94 accord 4 cylinders, 95 accord 6 cylinders and 97 accord 4 cylinders.
make sure you are not using the valet key. if still goes on take the key to a honda dealer and let them reprogramme the key,. most dealers do it for free.
Have you checked at the throttle linkage to make sure that all is ok? I have seen this problem, it is only a plastic clip that holds the throttle linkage in place and they brake and then no throttle.
Chris, I believe u have 2 problems. The flashing D4 light indicates a transmission problem, which Honda recommends having checked out right away. It wouldn't hurt to change the fluid, there is no filter on the 92 accord. I suspect the problem is more than changing the fluid though. The other problem is only starting in Neutral. This may be a faulty neutral safety switch. It's located at the base of the shift selector, and covered by the console. Let me know if u need directions on how to remove/install it. Good luck.
I guess I'd describe it as a clanking noise.
