I have a 87 toyota camry and the two fans behind the radiator dont run, im thinkin its a fuse but not sure, how can i fix it

Well i can't tell you how as i can't be sure what the problem is, however if you have a vom avaiable you can figure out what fuses go to what and check them to make sure power is going where it needs to go, fuses are left open on the ends for this purpose, you should have one fuse box inside your car left driverside down by the floor under the dash

Hi.....

The Normal Temperature Range to the Fan Start is: A/C ON 181 F.
A/C OFF 199 F. When the Engine Reach this Temperature the Fan should start.

OK. Do this simple test.
1---- Start the engine, Desconnect the ECT Switch located on the Radiator,
See if the Fan come ON. If yes, if not go to step #2
Connect the ECT SWITCH and leave the car Running and with a Temperature gage.
See the temperature, if the Temperature go more than 199 F.
Turn the Engine OFF.
Disconnect the ECT sensor and check for Ground at the WHITE/BLACK wire.
If ground exist, Replace the ECT switch.
But if not. Check the wire for any damaged, and the ground at the Front Left Fender.
Repair as need.

2---- check the Fuse link RDI FAN . 30 amp.
Check the Fuse link CDS FAN 30 amp.
Replace if need.
And Return to step # 1.
Check the Radiator fan Relay, Rad fan relay 2 and 3. Replace if need.

Ok. I hope this help on your question.
I can give to you the WIRING DIAGRAM of the Fans, But I need a E-MAIL adress to do that.

SOURCE: radiator fan on my 1994 toyota camry

there are actually 3 temp sensors. 1 is on the top of the engine that goes to temp gauge in dash has 1 wire. next to it is a 3 wire sensor for engine control and choke. on the bottom of the radiator next to the hose is a 2 wire sensor. loosen all 3 but leave connected. get engine hot past halfway point on dash gauge. with ac off disconnect 1 sensor at time. start with 2 wire under radiator. it takes the most abuse. fan will come on when you disconnect broken sensor. 2sensor must agree for fan to stay on till engine cools when turned off. note this is solution i used after verifying fuses, fuseable links and relays worked.WOO HOO! make sure you check both the fuse box under hood and fuse boxleft side of steering wheel my ECU fuse was inside my bros was outside.ECU B on my car goes to nothing and is under hood. Had it confused with ECU on wiring diagram.DOH!

Hi,

Firstly, ensure you have the required 'mixture' of coolant/water (must have required coolant).

Second, I would recommend you re-test all the cooling system sensors again (make sure they're within specifications), in case a new one is faulty.

Third, ensure the new thermostat was of the correct temp setting (they all differ), so that it opens at the required time. Most cooling systems operate within 90 - 100degC.

Fourth, make sure the radiator (and associated hoses) aren't blocked.

If your temp gauge is reading higher than normal, but NOT in the danger zone...then this can be considered normal (especially if you've replaced with new components) and nothing to be concerned about.

However, if the temp gauge IS in the danger zone....then this suggests the coolant is not flowing through the cooling system properly.

If all above components test ok, then it's possible your water pump may not be pumping enough volume.

The radiator fan in the 92-95 models of V-6 Toyota and Lexus vehicles is a weird design. The fan is not electric but runs off the power steering pump. The power steering pump moves fluid through hoses to the radiator fan, thereby creating its rotation. A sensor monitors coolant temperature and signals a solenoid on the power steering pump when more or less cooling is needed. The power steering pump then speeds up or slows down to provide more or less fan speed.

This system seems to work pretty well. However, there is a connector that goes to the power steering pump that is critical to proper operation. In engine work this connector often gets overlooked when reassembly is done. This results in the fan running at constant speed and not increasing rotation when more cooling is needed. This becomes a problem primarily when the car is idling or moving at a slow speed.

If your car is not overheating in these situations, the fan is probably operating okay.

97 toyota camry both fans continue to run

is 1MZ engine, the 5s is different. 1fan

1mz engine has 2 switches.
the twin fan engine is 1MZ (bingo)
the 1mz has 2 switches. a real pain when know one posts engine.
FSM data: ECT switches.
sw1--opens >208f closes < 190f
sw2.-opens >199f closes < 181f

i see the PCM has CF cooling fan control too.
my online source has 30+ pages of schematics
and covers it all but skips the fan wiring.
on the right fender fues box is the 4 or more fan /AC relays.
if you unplug the ECT sw1 or 2, or the relays im sure
you will find how is missing up and work from there.

it looks to me , (A/C drawings) that the PCM and A/C amp can both
control all fans but has 2 ways to do that.
PCM can see engine heat (ECT EFI) and activate fans when engine overheats, (normal at long idle times as stop sigs)
and the 2 , SW 1,'2 temperature switches are a backup i think too
all this and is staged, first 1 fan then next,
too bad the fan relay schematic is missing..

I have a 2000 Toyota camry 4 cyl the car overheated went to check it found out the radiator was bad changed it and cooling temp sender , sensor , thermostat , fan switch , and checked all the fuses and...

For many of the 90's and 2000's Toyota various models - Camry, Tacoma, 4 Runners, Corolla, and some other models overheating is usually caused by temperature sensitive fan switch on the radiator not operating. Electric fan on the radiator should operate when temp above 200 degrees. Less often the control relay 90987-03003 is defective. Check if bubbling in the radiator smells like exhaust. That would indicate a blown head gasket. A jumper wire from your marker light positive to the lower contact in the fan control relay socket will operate your fan when parking lights are on. The larger vehicles with more powerful radiator fans will need a hefty jumper from a headlight positive to avoid overheating the lighting wiring. Make sure the engine is off and warmed up to check the radiator core with your hand to see if it is getting circulation. If it is all cold the thermostat might be stuck.

The fan behind the radiator wont turn off unless you disconnect the battery. how do i fix it

Your car doesnt have a cooling fan relay it has a fan control module and it is located in the engine compartment on the passenger sidein front of the strut tower; you can replace it im not sure on the cost im thinkin it around 200 dolars maybe a little less it has 5 wires that plug into it did you find it?

AC does not blow cool when car is stopped, air is blowing hot. when car is moving th air becomes cool again.

make sure your electric cooling fan behind the radiator
is running with the a/c on , if not tap on the back of the
housing with a blunt object , but dont break it .
if it starts up , its the motor , if not ,a fuse or relay.
If its not running , repair it or dont use the a/c , as
the high pressure can dammage the compressor.

Why does my 1992 toyota camry run hot and radiator fan runs slowly

I would strongly suggest you replace the fan as its probably worn out and this is why its spinning slowly,thus why your car is getting hot,its fairly common for electric fans to slow down with age.You need to be careful that you dont drive the car till you fix it as you could overheat it and blow a head gasket!!

What can cause water to get very hot and be pushed out into the the coolant reservoir in a 1993 Toyota Camry LE v6?

Several things ... best guess, in order:
1. (very likely) Radiator fan is not blowing (turn on car and a/conditioner. When compressor kicks in, the radiator fan must blow). If it ims not blowing, the radiator fan motor may be burned out ($40).
2. Check / replace "cooling fan" fuse ($1) and / or "cooling fan" relay switch ($7).
3. Could be (not likely) thermostat sticking shut. Replace thermostat ($20)
4. Could be radiator hose collapse (not very likely) ($18)
5. Radiator clog or hose leak (possible)
6. Head gasket broken (not likely unless you don't fix current problem) ($150)

The more detail of the symptoms, the better we can assist you.

I have a 1988 4 door Toyota Camry. It has the Toyota 2000 16 Valve Engine with E.F.I.. The problem Im having is that it keeps overheating into the red within 30 minutes of driving. If you put the heat on...

Had a similar problem with my camry wagon, was going through thermostats every 6 months... dunno why. Best way to figure it out is just to buy a new thermostat and replace that first. It's really easy to do, and a new thermo will only run ya about 20 bucks.

Radiator fan is not working

Some toyotas have a coolant sensor NOT to be confused with the Temperature sensor. The coolant sensor is located on the radiator it selt, most likely on the bottom and close to the middle. Replace it and the fans should work as needed. Now a temporary fix, unplug the sensor, this will make the fans run only when the engine is running or the key is on the on position. Good luck.
