While reversing, the rever4sing lights dont work. Have checked 2x reversing bulbs-ok. I have done some research and found it might be back-up switch but cannot find it in engine bay. Please help.

You are right. It could be the back-up switch. It is located somewhere on the transmission or transaxle. A simple 2 wire connected switch, although some vehicles incorporate the back-up switch and the neutral safety switch into a single replaceable unit.
The back-up switch is very simple with a hot wire going in (when key is on), and choosing reverse gear closes the switch so power goes back out the other wire to your back-up lights. Pull off a 2 wire connector on the transaxle. With key on, one wire should be hot. If it is, jumper the connector with a jumper wire. If you pulled off the right switch connector, your back-up lights should be lit. Your neutral safety switch should only have a hot wire when the key is in cranking position. At least, I think so. So be careful jumping connections and have the car run off by itself.
The wiring for the circuit runs from the fuse box to the switch to the back-up lights to ground.
Good luck.

SOURCE: reverse lights on my vauxhal corsa v reg are not working

Yes. You can get the MOT station to do the repair or you can try and solve the problem. Check your fuses, the earth connections, your wiring and the voltage at the bulb. It could also be a faulty switch. I hope some of that will help.

SOURCE: reverse lights don't work, not the bulbs, put the

The switch is located on the side of the transmission. There is a 2-wire connection, (I believe they are coloured black/orange and red/white. If you unplug the connector and jump the 2 wires together the lights should go on. If they do then the switch is dead, if not there's something else wrong.

SOURCE: reverse lights not working

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

sounds like you have a bad ground wire or the wire going to the sides is broken. you may have to check the connections till you find where the wires are connected. if you can test the two side lights with a battery to confirm they do work and are not bad bulbs. or switch them with working light bulbs to confirm they work. then if they work they you need to start looking for a section of wire that may be broken or is corroded and will need to reconnected to make work again.

Sounds like this car was under water...????

Not knowing the year is a down point.!

I would remove and check all fuse block relays and switches. Both under the hood in engine area and under the dash.
If it was me, I would bring it to a auto electrical shop and have them check to system.

When put in reverse the lights dont work. have checked bulbs they are ok. any suggestions welcome

Have you checked for voltage at the light socket with the bulbs removed? If no voltage, then you may have a bad reverse switch. If you have voltage, (with car off, car in reverse, and ignition on) the try new bulbs. Even a bulb that LOOKS good can be bad

Reverse lights dont work.escort van.1.8 none turbo.2002.

With engine off and key on, emergency brake set, place the gear selector in reverse, using a volt ohm meter check for voltage at bulb terminals. If voltage is present then the switch is working and the wiring to the lamp is good. Next check the other terminal with the ohmmeter to ground for connection. Sounds like a bad ground.

Reverse lights on my vauxhal corsa v reg are not working

It`s the reverse light switch under the bonnet had to replace it on my 16v t reg corsa costs about 8-£10 and comes off easily because it`s just a bolt with electricals leading to the back lighting. This happens on every Corsa. Let me guess Your Heater control lights and fan swich lights have gone too on the interior. Any problem corsa related, been there done it.
