2003 Lincoln Navigator air suspension

I replaced the left rear shock, now the air suspension does not work in the back, either side. I hear the pump, but no movement.

  • malsha0708 Apr 25, 2009

i have a 2003 navigator and 3 weeks ago the compressor started to make noise like trying to pump the suspensions up to a level the car now last week i dont hear the compressor anymore and the whole truck dropped, now and then the air supension comes up except for the left front side is drop.,this week says check suspension and now again the truck stays low. i went to lincoln and they told me that i need to replace the left front shock 500$ and the relay 200$ now the truck looks slanted to the left cause they pumped it up but lincoln says i have a leak on the shocks i wanted to know if it does cost 700$ to replace these 2 parts.also cant i just patch the leak?i bought the truck 2 month ago from a dealer and also wondering if the delear knew about the issue cause its also not cover by the warrenty.

I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. Airbags and compressors are constantly having to be replaced. Also something alot of people don't know is that theses air suspensions are not meant to be in temperatures above 90 Degrees or below 40 Degrees. That is most of the world. The temperature will cause you to replace alot of bags. and typically when your replacing a bag you are going to have to replace the compressor to because the bag had a hole or small crack in it causing the compressor to over work and it will die. I posted the link below so you can take a look http://www.strutmasters.com/lincoln-suspension-parts-s/1.htm I hope I was of some help Good Luck!!!

I have an 03 Navigator and my suspension crapped out about 6 months ago and I sent a fortune on OEM parts to replace the failed parts. Then they failed again, finally I went to Strutmasters and purchased their deluxe conversion kit and it fixed all of my problems!!!!

I had the same problem and went to a mechanic. He told me that the alternator or rotater what ever it's called was rusted or something. Because it was rusted it was not able to rotate and pump the air shocks. Think you should go to a mechanic.

Rear air suspension doesn't inflate everytime vehicle is started

My Buick had this problem and we found the pump was worn out. It just would not blow up when trying to run. They wanted a lot of money to replace it and the shocks.so I bought a kit that the air line hooks underneath the license plate Now about once every three months I use my air compressor to pump it up. My old air shocks lost air all the time. My new air shocks stay blowed up for over three months.

I have a 2001 lincoln navigator an the rear end is sitting very low since 2 days ago and i have no idea how to trouble shoot it

Check fuses for the air pump. I think that has air ride and the pump is probably not working to air up the rear shocks. If you have the owners manual, look in the back for "Fuses" and go to that page. That will tell you where the fuses are and what they are for. Good Luck.

My 2003 lincoln navigator just left garage and now it leans completely to the left

This vehicle has a air ride suspension option which can read the height of the vehicle, when weight is added the suspension will compensate by appling air to the front and rear shocks. When weight reduced it will lower by venting air from the shocks. If the entire vehicle sits low there is a problem with the air compressor circuit (quite often water in the system and freezes causing damage to the compressor). In your case if only one side is low, check the front and rear shocks, the lowest wheel probably has a leaking shock and can't rise.

2004 Lincoln nave, rear wheels jacked up high, front wheels normal, rides real rough??? any thoughts???? Thanks,

Replace the air suspension with conventional shock/strut
conversions. The Air Ride System is not worth investing
time and money ,after the vehicle is 5 years old.
Too expensive to maintain ,and too difficult to diagnose

Next time buy the Ford version of the vehicle

04 lincoln navigator, Air ride problem. Driverside front and rear bags appear fully inflated. The passenger side looks normal height. When I shut the truck off driverside stays jacked up and passenger side...

My suggestion to you and all the other folks leaving questions on this board about collapsed air suspension systems in luxury cars is to fix that one by replacing it with a real spring and shock system which you can buy at www.strutmasters.com if it is economically feasible, then sell it and avoid air suspensions systems like the plague. There are legions of old 70s Citroens still sitting idle 30 years later on collapsed air suspensions systems in garages and barns all over the country which cars the buyers can't let go because they cost so damn much. Get a coleman air mattress and use it every day, see how long it really lasts.

If your keeping the vehicle, swap out the air shocks, for conventional
Do not go to a dealer. People on this site, are spending $4000.00, and the dealers, still are unable to repair.
