While attempting to start 1998 BMW 740IL it failed to start. The ligts in the cabin came on. However, the clock reset and the lights on the radio and a/c were dim. Additionally there is a clicking sound when I attempt to start the car and the lights temporarily go dim everytime I attempt to start it. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
This happened to mine.
I took it back to the place where i bought it and at this time i still had warranty on it, they went and looked through it and found that the battery cables were bad.

I have the same problem on my 2001 740il. I replaced the battery and it cranked no problem and started. I went out 2 days later and the car wouldn't strat again and it wouldn't even jump start. Any oidea what this could be? All interior accessory lights work.
