What would cause a serpentine belt on my 2000 Honda passport to keep coming off?

There could be several reasons why the serpentine belt on your 2000 Honda Passport is coming off, including:
  1. Loose or damaged tensioner: If the belt tensioner is loose or damaged, it can cause the belt to slip off.
  2. Worn or damaged pulleys: Worn or damaged pulleys can cause the belt to slip, resulting in belt failure.
  3. Misaligned or loose belt: A misaligned belt or a belt that is too loose can cause it to come off.
  4. Improper belt size or type: Using an incorrect size or type of belt can cause it to slip or come off.
  5. Engine vibration: Excessive engine vibration can cause the belt to loosen, leading to belt failure.
  6. Engine overheating: Overheating the engine can cause the belt to expand and slip off.
To determine the cause of the problem, it's recommended to have a mechanic inspect the serpentine belt system on your vehicle.

Serpentine belt keeps popping/slipping off

The power steering pump pulley must be flushed with the power steering pump shaft,Or else you will have noise or slips right off.12_11_2012_4_28_42_am.gif

The serpentine belt on my 1984 Buick Lesabre keeps breaking when turn on air conditioner or heater why?

Most likely you have a seized AC compressor. When you ask for AC or heat the AC clutch engages with the pulley wheel that normally spins freely when the AC is off. As the pulley wheel is no longer able to turn because of the seized compressor the belt will either slip or snap.

How to replace a water pump on a 2004 dodge cummins motor, 3500 4x4 dulley

Replacing the water pump on my 2004 5.9 cummins 1ton Dually was easy,Disconnect neg. batt. cables, drain coolant, released serpentine belt tensioner with 1/2" drive ratchet and while in released position slipped belt from ac compressor, removed two bolts that held alt. to brackets, slipped alt. to one side then removed upper alt. brkt., removed two bolts on water pump, made sure mounting surface of block was clean and took new water pump put a small amt. of rtv sealant all around groove that rubber seals goes in,install rubber seal, "be sure and wipe off excess sealant then re-install water pump tightening carefully, reinstall alt. upper brkt., then alt. put belt back in correct position but be sure and leave it off of ac pulley so you can reinstall it on ac when you are underneath the eng. area while releasing tension on belt tensioner. Fill with proper coolant type till you have rad. full. Reinstall cables, start eng and with cap off you will have to add coolant as eng. warms up till it has air out of system. Once rad. is full install cap then refill coolant recovery bottle to full level, Keep and eye on it for leaks for a couple of days and "Happy Driving" Don't think I left anything out :)

Air conditioner pump slips on serpentine belt when activated

see if that vehicle came without A/C. If so ck for the belt availability and see if it can be put od bypassing the compressor. At the least, disconnect the compressor clutch wirin g so the A/C will not function at all. until you can manage a the cost of a pump. Good luck, Ned

Running hard

You may need a new serpentine belt tensioner. That's the part that keeps the belts tight. If it's weak, it may be allowing the belt to slip. When you say the car runs "hard" what exactly do you mean? That the RPMs dip down when you turn on the AC? If so, that's normal since the AC compressor loads the engine pretty heavily. If you mean something else by it, please repost and clarify what you're seeing/hearing so we can take it from there.
