Question about 1991 Jeep Wrangler

Wiring diagram for a 1991 wramgler fuel pump

I am replacing the fuel pump on my wrangler. have the tank and pump down, disassembled and ready to wire the pump in. i have assumed the two wires on top of the pump go to the corresponding blades on the top of the mount. The issue is the wire that appears to be a ground on the mounting post, and the lack of wiring on the gauge unit.

there is a lead that you must be missing. but given its age, i would run a new wire. the gage should have 3 wires out the back. positive , negative, and the signal wire.

sounds like ur sensor has **** itself, easyist way to fix is to get a aftermarket sensor but you will have to match it to the omes of the original one.

Where is the fuel pump relay on a 1991 gmc jimmy

Thye fuelpump relay is located to the right of the brake booster. this is for a 1991 gmc jimmy (s-15)

I have enclosed a diagram to help locate the relay.

The most common reason for no fuel pressure on these trucks is not the relay but rather the fuelpump itself. the pump is located inside the fuel tank.

There is also a problem with the wiring to the fuel pump, you will need to locate the top of the tank and then off to side of tank is wiring .
This wiring comes off the top of the tank, you will need to check and there is connector problems..
there is one or two ground wires that come off wiring to top of tank which run to frame, check to make sure the grounds are good. if you end up with a bad pump you will see a notice to rewire a new fuelpump connector. hope this is helpful. good day.3_4_2012_1_29_16_am.gif

We have a 1991 jeep wrangler 4.0 and we changed the fuel pump and now the coil is getting no fire when i hook the battery back up

My 1991 Wrangler would alternate between no spark and no fuel. After replacing the crank sensor, the coil, and the fuel pump twice I started chasing wires looking for a bad ground. There is a black with a yellow stripe wire that comes out of the rear body harness between the front e brake mount and the front door post(very hard to get at)right above the bottom dash edge that should be securely grounded to the front e brake mount. As soon as I secured that ground everything worked properly again.

1991 chevy cavalier- stopped running going down road. Replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay-ran for two weeks and the when making a stop, cut off again and won't start and is blowing the fuel pump fuse...

Sounds like a short between the fuse panel and the fuel pump relay. This can be from the fuel pump relay itself through an exposed bit of wire, or even a defective relay which seems to happen more than most times. Check the wiring to the relay and wrap or tape anything where bare wire may be exposed. Disconnect relay and try a new fuse. IF the fuse doesn't blow, then the problem source is the relay itself that is defective.

Hope this helps!

My gas guage will not work on my 1991 buick riviera what do i need to fix it?

about 98% of fuel gauge issues are the fuel sender in the gas tank. This is part of the fuel pump assembly, and is replaced with the fuel pump. There is another place to check though. The wiring that goes to the fuel sender can get unhooked (possible, but not often happens). The connector is above the gas tank; either way you would have to take the gas tank down. By attaching a rheostat or variable resistor, you can test the wiring and gauge system to see if it works. If it does, then you know that you need to replace the pump to get it working again. If not, then you have wiring issues between the pump and the dash. Hope this is what you're looking for.

My 1991 jeep wrangler fuel pump is not turning on? I don't know what is wrong.

If you are positive that your fuel pump is not working, then it is time to replace it.

You can find the fuel pump either inside the engine compartment or inside the gas tank, depending on the engine that you have in your wrangler.

Since it is likely that you have the inline 6 cylinder 4.0, the pump is most likely inside the tank.

Go ahead and pull it if you are sure that is the problem and take it to be tested by your local auto parts store.

I love my Stanzas.. Years ahead in design .. Drove the girlfriends new 2009 Dodge Calibre today and amazes me that all the column stalk controls are almost the same as my 1990 GXE ..
The good news is you don't have to drop the gas tank !
Just remove the upper portion of the back seat for access to the fuel pump and the sending unit : )

Fuel Pump

I've never heard of this. Where are you getting the fuel pumps? Are they made by carter? It is more likely that low voltage or weak ground would be burning them up.
