I have a 2005 Chevy Cavalier and the horn does not work. I know the horn is okay (I attached wires from the battery to the horn). The car had been in an accident before I purchased it and the owner said the airbag never deployed. I tend to not believe the person because 1) the center piece is a darker color than the steering wheel and 2) the center easily depresses as if there is nothing inside. It is not firm. If there is no airbag in the steering wheel, will this stop the horn from working because the horn pressure plate is not hitting contacts properly? Thanks
Start by simply checking the fuse then if fuse is good check connections on steering wheel if you pull the cover off be very careful it does not take much to deploy the airbag with cover off one little poke and you can possibly be seeing stars or even nothing for a while.could also be caused from frayed or shorted wire.
No connection between air bag and horn operation
the air bag is in a section but that whole section presses to activate the horn
can be on either side bottom or top will work the horn
probably right that there is no air bag
you will have to remove the wheel to check the horn contact under the center bit
check for a horn relay operation first

Angie,
I was going over some unsolved problems and found yours. If you still need the procedure to replace the wheel, comment me back or better yet Click on my name, when my profile comes up, click the Askme button. This will send me a message directly.
There are some specialty tools needed, but they are inexpensive. I can walk you through it no problem

First of all, there is no wire that runs from the horn to the steering column (if the horn circuits had been properly diagnosed you would know this). I would recommend diagnosing and repairing the horn circuit the correct way rather than butchering your wiring harnesses and adding more problems to the electrical problems that you are already experiencing.
If you would like help with diagnosing and repairing your truck's horn circuit, I would be happy to help you do that.
