If it just smokes when it idles, i'd be inclined to suggest it's the oil seals on the turbo... Leave it 10 minutes, see if the smoke starts, give the accelerator lots of gas to see if the smoke stops... If it does, then it's the turbo oil seals....

05 outback code er55 car misses and smokes black exhaust smells like eggs what is wrong

black smoke indicates that it is over fuelling, probably from a faulty injector
the eggs smell is hydrogen sulphide ( rotten egg gas) and is the cat converter doing its job ( same as new car exhaust smell)

Power loss on hills

Get the codes scanned, if it is the cat-convertor, you can either replace one or both. If they're bolt-on you can save alot by replacing yourself. Welded on is shop job.I used a technique using lacquer thinner to rid the carbon out of the cats. One pint to half a tank. It'll smoke and buck for a little while, but does work.

The oil in the engine is cream and is smoking

It's quite likely to be the head gasket, but here are a few cheaper possibilities to consider it's it's not overheating or suffering any great loss in power.

If it's a diesel, white smoke can be caused by unburnt diesel which could mean incorrect injector or valve timing or a leaking injector.

If it's petrol, have you driven in deep water? the cat could have water in it which also produces white 'smoke'.

1992 lexus sc 400 lost power after a burst of black smoke on right side, recently changed transmition, and regulator due to fuel smell.

I would like at the CATS, they can get clogged, this would also cause the gas smell in the cabinet. GL

I was driving and it died out on me and it want stay started.alot of smoke was coming from it black and white

Possible catalytic converter issue. When the Cat gets clogged, it will prevent the vehicle from running. You already have one sign (the excessive smoke) another sign is a sulphur smelling exhaust as well as a lot of heat from the general vicinity of the Cat.

Engine smoking

If smoke is sweet smelling and alot of moisture drips out of tail pipe, it is probably engine coolant.Check for coolant loss.
