Trans-axle transmissions are transmissions and differentials in one housing with the axles coming directly out of that housing, its the housing that bolts to the engine with 2 axles coming out.
Only in these layouts:
front-engine, front-wheel, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive and rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive.

Replaced transmission now it will not start

some vehicles have crank angle sensor fitted to belhousing, by removing trans can damage the sensor or may be forgot to connect the socket. also if its a manual and has a dual mass flywheel then excessive play on dual mass can upset the crank angle sensor timing

Anit-freeze leaking from belhousing

sounds like you have a bad freeze plug..unfortunately, you will have to remove the trans, torque converter, and possibly the flywheel to get to the 2 freeze plugs that are on the back of the engine

How do I remove and replace the clutch?

Many things are involved in replacing a clutch. If it it 4 WD, you will have to remove the drive shafts, transfer case and the trans. If not, then just the drive shaft and trans. You will/may have to remove the starter. Disconnect the battery first. Don't forget the shifter. I'm not sure but I believe the belhousing may be seperate, older GM vehicles were, you will have to remove that as well. Then remove the clutch pressure plate which is usually held to the fly wheel by 6 to 8 bolts. And next the clutch plate. If the flywheel is really scored you should have it resurfaced and don't forget to torque the bolts when re-installing it. Reassemble in the reverse order. Having a clutch pilot bearing alignment tool is also very helpful when installing the clutch and pressure plate as it helps putting the trans back into location much easier. You should also replace the throw out bearing and pilot bearing in the crank shaft. If the clutch is hyd, don't forget to bleed it. Hope this helps and good luck!
