Electric lift gate latch not unlocking to open the rear hatch.
SOURCE: rear hatch doesnt open
Sounds like the mechanism has come apart inside the hatch itself. Can you open it with the key? Keep in mind when you use the key, you have to leave it turned and in the hatch otherwise it won't open. Had a similar problem on my Golf and had the dealer repair it for me.
SOURCE: rear doors not unlocking
Replace the door lock / unlock relay in the fuse box next to the driver side door. no problem since than.

Unfortunately, you will have to remove the panel of the door, Use flathead screwdriver to pry open. It is very likely the spring fell off.

In the i/p fuse box there is 2 relays, a lock relay and an unlock relay. The relays should be the same. If the door lock actuators work in the lock position but not the unlock position try swapping the relays and see if the actuators will unlock the doors. You have a bad relay if this worked for you.
The only other part that is common to the circuits is the body control module. It controls the ground circuits to the lock relays. The control to the unlock side can be bad if the relay swap don't work.
Good luck
