My daughters 2000 Saturn died while driving. When she tried to restart it nothing. Lights and radio come on but does nothing when turning key. When trying to remove it from the side of the road, we were faced with another problem. We can not get the car out of park. Two problems we don't know where to start.

If it won't fire off of starting fluid,time to check for spark.Remove a plug wire from a plug,and insert into the boot a medium sized phillips head screwdriver.Snap the screwdriver in,and lay it somewhere near a ground source,within a 1/4" from the ground source,but not touching it.Have someone crank the car over while you LOOK for a spark arcing from the screwdriver to the ground source.Do not hold the screwdriver as you may get a JOLT if you do.If no spark at all,try another plug wire.If no spark,you have an ignition problem.

try having someone tap on the starter with a hammer or breaker bar while you turn the ignition. if it engages the starter then theres a problem and needs replaced. if not message me back and i'll help you trouble shoot further

I suggest that you take it to another mechanic, preferably one that specializes in electrical problems. It sounds like you have some type of electrical short somewhere and it will take some time to properly diagnose it. When the car is running, does the Check Engine Light stay on?
