Hi, I had this problem with my 1998 daewoo nubira cdx sation wagon, the fault finder they hooked up said there was a fault with the throttle body so they replaced this twice before realising the "IAC UNIT" was faulty (This is to do with the 'ECU' apparently), The fault with the 'IAC UNIT' caused the wiring to arc and cause the said problem. Here is the list of what they did to mine.
"Remove TPS and IAC DRIVE (Replace IAC UNIT) and REPAIR WIRING and RECALIBRATE.
This cost approx $70 for the IAC unit and 1 hour to do the job for them.

High idle speed on any fuel injected car engine ussually means an intake air leak or faulty idle speed motor, but maybe faulty coolant temp switch, check if coolant level in radiator is to top of neck ONLY OPEN RADITOR WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, this is for personal safety. Get a trigger spray bottle of water and spray around all parts of the inlet manifold if leak evident rgine should run slightly rough. other poss prob could be brake booster faulty or booster one way faulty or hose split. Hi,

Based on your description, could be anything:
  • throttle control (including A/C compensator);
  • auto choke;
  • engine management;
  • auto cruise (if your model has one)
A couple of clarifying questions:
  1. What is your standard set idling RPM, 1000? with or without A/C?
  2. Automatic or conventional/manual trnasmission?
  3. When was the last major tune-up? What parts were replaced?
  4. Does it sound like misfiring also?
  5. Any other indicators, hard starting, long warmup, stalling, excessive gas consumption, smarting to the eyes exhaust fumes?
  6. Does your battery light lits up?
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Daewoo Nubira hunts on idle revs high in between gear changes
I have a Daewoo nubira estate 2001. When starting the engine it hunts from about 1000 up to 2500 up and down. I have had the air control valve changed twice, the first time it fixed the problem, but the second time it had no effect. Is there any other item that can give this effect and how do I correct it Thanks.

these vehicles had a zylux immobiliser fitted at point of entry to Australia others had after market system fitted they didnt actuall build them with these features.you need to go to a dealer to repair or program new remote, have you got a second key remote? this one might still work

Loses the power and starts stalling
The IAC valve requires resetting .
First locate the IAC valve located on the side of the throttle body and has 4 wires going to it .Procedure is as follows
Ignition key on ,unplug the IAC ,turn key off ,reconnect the IAC .do this 3-4 times .restart the car and hold the rpm at 2000 rpm and slowly lower until it idles by it self .

Daewoo nubira transmission control module
Hi, the TCM is located at the passenger side kick panel (LHD), when you remove the kick panel you will see the ECU (engine control module) directly above it is the TCM. I hope this can help.

Year 2000 Nubira Wagon automatic. When starting the revs are way to high. Any permanent way to fix... Thanks Peter
1997 nubira wagon high revs at idle. We disconnected the battery and turned the headlights on to remove any residual stored power then waited for 10 to 15 mins. Connect the battery and turn the ignition on and off 5 times without starting the car now start the car without touching the accelerator pedal. This worked for us as it seems to reset the computer. We have had to do this periodicaly to keep the problem in check. Hope this helps.
