On my 2000 Chevy Cavalier with the 2.2 im having trouble with the brakes. When I push on the pedal it has a little resistance on it but it goes to the floor before it gets solid and stops the car. I checked all my brakes front a back and even adjusted the back. Even unplugged the abs main connector to see if that would help, it didnt. When you pump the brake with the car sitting still you can hear a hissing sound like air leaking or somthing from under the car but there are no leaks what so ever, just the pedal goes to the floor. What would you suggest to do next. Thanks you.

CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT:
(a) Check that the pedal free play and push rod play are correct.
(1) Depress the pedal until clutch resistance begins to be felt. Pedal free play:
5.0 to 15.0 mm (0.197 to 0.591 in.)
(2) Gently depress the pedal until the resistance begins to increase a little. Push rod play at pedal top:
1.0 to 5.0 mm (0.039 to 0.197 in.)
(b) Adjust the pedal free play and push rod play.
(1) Loosen the lock nut and turn the push rod until the correct free play and push rod play are obtained.
(2) Tighten the lock nut.
Torque: 12 N*m (120 kgf*cm, 8.7 ft.*lbf)
(3) After adjusting the pedal free play, check the pedal height.
can you here a hissing sound when you push the brake while its running? if so then you have a bad brake booster, need to replace it, the hissing is actually the vacuum that builds within the booster escaping thru the seal in the booster
Low or empty brake fluid . No red brake light lite . Brake line corroded maybe , where do you live ? Rust belt USA . Just had a similar problem in a 2005 chevy cavalier . Did you have to stop really fast ?
Should be on brake pedal under dash, could be brake switch is sticking or bad try pulling up on your brake pedal, if tail lights go off that's what it is, if not your switch is staying stuck in.
You changed the master cylinder and vacuum booster and have no leaks anywhere, but did you bleed the entire brake system after you did this work? A little bit of air in any of the lines will make the brakes ineffective.
the brakes will get hot ??? before you go any further drive it around then stop on a level road and try pushing the car to see if the brakes are binding, noise from brakes at front ??? were the disks worn or grooved ??? what make of pads have you used ???are they too hard for the car ??how much copper in the pad material??were they made in china???have a good look
