Have water leaking above water pump... some sort of pipe comming from the manifold and going back into something .. very small and short pipe... does this pipe have an o ring or something.. how do i stop it from leaking ..need fix,, winter is comming , thanks joe k.

Yeah on that vehicle there is a 90 degree plastic elbow that goes from the belt tensioner to the intake manifold and on both ends there are O-rings. Definitely need to repair this as soon as possible. Not sure your technical abilities but you would need to remove the serpentine belt and alternator and a bracket if I'm not mistaken. Usually takes me about 45 minutes to repair but I have been doing it for awhile. Good luck and Happy wrenching!!!

follow the water inlet pipe to water pump the thermostat housing connects to water pump this is for 2.4l engine you have to remove exhaust manifold heat shield.you will see the water inlet pipe going to water pump inlet thermostat housing.for the 3.1 engine follow top radiator hose to thermostat housing you have to remove air filter air duct and filter housing , you have to remove throttle body unit with coolant hoses, you have to disconnect accelerator cable, transmission down shift cables at the bracket bolts to throttle body.once you remove throttle body unit then you can see and remove the thermostat housing to replace thermostat.you need to buy new throttle body gasket,and new small coolant hoses connects to the throttle body unit.have extra gallon antifreeze dexcool on hand.
It takes a lot more than a small leak to consider your engine as "totaled" Have the system pressure tested and carefully inspected. Every leak has a source. some are easy to find, some are a bit more difficult. A shop can use a fluorescent dye and a black light to locate the source if you can't. I'd check the corners of the intake manifold and timing chain housing. Also, check the hoses again. A small pin-hole can squirt coolant far away from the hole itself and is often very difficult to see.
Yes, there is a "bypass outlet" coolant hose that connects from the water pump inlet pipe (metal pipe that runs from back of water pump along engine block to lower radiator hose) to the intake manifold.
I am not sure about the "black box" - not enough detail.
The hole is there to let you know the antifreeze seal in the pump is leaking. You need a new (or rebuilt ) pump installed immediately. Please change the belt and any tensioners while you are at it...
Gm has released a TSB and updated part for this problem. Your dealer should have sold you the updated piece, but the partsman may have been out of touch or just using up old stock. Make sure you get the updated part this time.
