Im installing a sony xplod cdx-r5715x cd player in a 97 dodge status. i have everything wired in and it seems to work but when i turn on the turn signal, interior light, or when i hit the break or gas pedal, you can only hear very low sound in the front.
I had the same problem.. and I fixed it. The problem is the stock amplifier under the passenger seat.. What happens is you are pushing more amps from the cd player through the amplifier than the amplifier put out in the first place, so the amp acts as a resistor, and for some reason it causes the speakers to cut out when turning signal, brake lights, wipers, or any lights/electrical are applied. The only solution I know is to wire straight from your cd player to the speaker itself.. it's kind of a job but if you like wiring etc. it turns out alright.

The very low sound, do you mean the Sony's volume goes from normal levels to a reduced level and only in the front speakers?
If this is the case, the first place I would verify is the pwr supply connection. Also, there should be a connection to the interior lighting, meaning that when the headlights are turned on the lighting on the Sony should be turned on. Possible these two wires may be switched.
Or do you hear a low level sound that is included with the normal sound levels from your Sony? If this is the case, you may have a issue with the battery and/or charging system. If you have a large amplifier included with the Sony, there are capacitors that can by purchased at your local electonics shop that will mitigate this sound. AM radios where very bad for this low level noise.
Sounds (sorry for the pun) like a wiring problem. My guess it is probably one of two problems.
First, there is a good chance that the lights, brakes and so on are using enough power on a certain electrical circuit (the same one you are using) to lower the voltage to the Sony causing the output to decay. Verify the power supply to the Sony is a deticated one, like the one for the original radio or install a new one to your fuse box. Check with Sony for correct fuse size.
Second possibly is there is a wire that may be in contact with your speaker wires that is a part of your light, brakes..... I can't begin to tell you how many times I have seen (guilty myself) cable ties (ty-wraps) installed way too tight that it may crush the insulation and cause two circuits to become in contact. Check the wiring to see if it is OK.
Other than that, I am lost for ideas.

when i turn on the turn signal or hit the break, ect. the sound in the back cuts out and i only hear a very low sound in the front. when the turn signal is not on, everything sounds great. i dont think its the cd player volume, i think its the speakers.
