Windscreen washers HI I have a 2004 Ford Focus C-Max turbo diesel Ghia. I thought assumed the washer bottle was empty as no water was coming out of the front or the back. Put water in but they still do not work. I can hear that the motor is working when trying to get water to come through the jets, but still no water

think its just the rubber seal on the motor in teh deposit bottle

Remove the windshield washer reservoir and give it a good cleaning with a mixture of 1 part bleach and 3 parts water. You may be able to clean it without removing the reservoir by flushing it throughly and the cleaning it while still on the vehicle with the bleach mix. After it is throughly cleaned put a bleach mix in the reservoir and disconnect the hoses from the spray nozzles and run the washer until the hoses are clean. Use a needle to clean out the nozzles, and the connect the hoses and run the washer until the nozzles are clear. Remove the bleach mix and then fill the reservoir with a commercial windshield washer fluid. I recommend Rain X.

Really cheap and dirty trick!!!
Pull off the pipe from one of the the jets, Take a glass full of water and take a swig, blow this water DOWN the pipe, effectively reverse flushing the pump and sending the debris back out of the filter, flush the bottle again afterwards and refill with water/fluid

Fords have a common problem with their washer pumps. for the last 12 years ford have fitted a plastic mesh over the inlet to the washer pump, this blocks up with the build up of crystalized washer fluid. fords official protocol says to use a small sharp object the size of a pencil to peirce the mesh and allow the flow of water. Also most washer bottles can be accessed via the front wheel arch. simple undo the fixings and pull the innier plastic wheelarch out the way and pull the pump out of the bottle. they are never fixed in just wedged in.

remove o/s wheel and arch liner then these 2 10mm bolts holding the bottle in

washer jets are clear but after the cold weather no water coming out and pump making no noise is pump knackered if so how do u get at it and is it a quick fix

are you sure it's the washer bottle sounds like the heater core is gone if window is fogging up it's the heater core
