I have a 2000 chevy silverado 1500. 3 nights ago, my truck started up just fine with no problems and has never had a problem starting up. The next morning, I tried to start it and the dash lights and radio work with no showing signs of a low battery or anything. The problem is that it won't even attempt to turn over, so when I turn the key I don't hear anything. Since then I've used a charger on my truck (brand new charger) and had it charging today for 6 hours at 10 amps. When I go to try and start the truck, still no attempting to turn over or anything but the dash and radio still work no problem. I've double checked there is a good connection to the battery and don't see any corrosion on either connection positive or negative. I don't have that much money so I don't want to go buy and battery/alternator ect... without have a solid idea that I've tried everything. Lastly, I seem to be missing a larger fuse in the fuse box, in the place of the diagram that shows "L BODY 12 WAY BLACK" and I've never looked at my fuse box till now so I'm not sure if I ever had a fuse in that spot in the first place. Also, I took out the "crank" fuse and it doesn't look blown but I switched it with the "illum" fuse for the dome light and tried to start it just in case, and still it doesn't even try to turn over or anything. Thank you very much for your time.

Do you have remote start on that truck? if you do, it has a hood safety switch that will keep it from starting if hood is open. That hood switch is quite easily identifyable. Look for it on the drivers side, either close to the firewall or right at the front of the fuse box.itsa worth taking a look

The missing fuse wasn`t there to begin with or you would have noticed something not working, several cars have additional locations for fuses that they don`t require in case its ordered with the option or sometimes the manufactures use the same components on other cars in production.the no crank may be the starter motor that has the problem.if you can get under the truck and have someone try to start the car then at the same time tap the motor with a hammer,if it starts then the starter is bad.you can use a test light and check for voltage at the starter small wire while someone tries to start the car the light should light up(better if its a voltmeter it should be battery voltage).do the same with the larger wire at the starter it should be battery voltage,if these tests are good then the starter is no good.

2000 silverado problems

Common problem on that model chevy. Check the fuel regulator to make sure is not leaking. Allow it to run for a few minutes and shut it off then pull the vacuum line off of it. If there is fuel in there that it is leaking. If that checks out it will most likely be the fuel pump. If you cycle the key a few time then it starts fine it will be the pump

My 1999 chevy silverado starts and dies within two seconds. has anyone had this experience before and how did you fix it?

does it have a b2960 security code set, i bet it does, it probably has a security problem and is going into fuel shut off, try replacing the ignition switch harness, this is 98% of the time the problem

Chevy 2000 Silverado 1500, the engine stalls and won't start until it has cooled off.

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.

2000 chevy 1500 4 wheel drive electronic shift runs fine then speedo starts to go erratic then stops working then the brake warning light comes on then the abs light comes on then the transmission shifts...

Check your battery terminal connections. Because so much of these trucks are computer controlled a bad connection at the battery will cause alot of electrical bugs. I had to replace my transmission about a year ago. Just prior to having that done my speedo was going crazy at times. The brake warning light usually means you have one or more calipers that need to be replaced. Start with the battery terminal connections.
