R134. It was around 1992 or 1993 manufacturers starting making the switch to R134. After 1995 for sure everything was using R134.

If you look you should find a sticker under the hood with Air conditioning information. It will tell you what type and how much the system holds. Unless the vehicle has had front end damage and been repaired, than it may be missing.
