You likely have a faulty brake pedal interlock sensor switch.
Check brake switch for servicability/adjustment.
Refer to owners manual for emergency over-ride interlock release procedure if necessary.

when the engine is burning oil, at the rate of 1 pint per 500 k thats too many.......time for a rebuild.until something else goes wrong.I reckon that if a repair is
going to cost more than the worth of the car then thats too many for me.

there is a switch on the steering column on most Subarus that turns the parking lights on. This switch is easily bumped while cleaning the dash area. I would almost put money on this being the problem.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. I would start checking there.

A tune up before you try to trouble shoot is recommended also.

KEY WAY ON CRANKSHAFT BROKEN.CRANK SHAFT HAS TO BE REPLACED.BECAUSE KEY KEEP BALANCER FROM SPINNING ON CRANKSHAFT.

I assume that all the other windows are working. This means there a problem with the driver window switch or a problem with the window motor and regulator. Remove the interior door panel. Check that the regulator is not broken or jammed. Then test with a voltmeter to see if there is voltage at the window motor when the switch is toggled. If there is voltage, but the motor does not run, you need to replace the motor. If there is no voltage when the switch is toggled, chances are the switch is bad and needs to be replaced, although there could also be a problem elsewhere in that window circuit.

thermostat in on the underside of the engine on the drivers side. sounds like the temp switch is bad if the fans arent turning on. but also the 2.5 engines are pron to have an internal headgasket leak. if your overflow anifreeze bottle is overflowing then you ave a headgasket problem as well

How about the radiator cap?

did you change the filter along with it? does it start?

tryes to start but will not, acts like it's not getting gas. Put gas in the corbtor' runs for second then quiets. What do I do?

Is the engine turning over? If it is not turning over or is turning slowly you may have a bad battery. Have you tried jump starting the car when it won't start?

There seems to be air in the brake system, you will need to bleed the system.

first of all check plugs, wires, and make sure air filter is clean. make sure it is getting proper fuel.
