This morning my 1993 Subaru

Hi it is true in a way as subaru engines are classed as destructive when timing belts break causing it to bend valves, however if you were just idling or going slow at time of breakage it is common for some motors to survive perfectly so best bet is get it checked out before scrapping it completly as it may only need a new belt. If the belt has broken when you wind the car over it will sound completly diff, but just remove 1 of the 3 front covers to find out as the belt will be floppy

Just got a 87 subaru

You could have gas fouled plugs. Even if they are new , they can gas foul in a short time. The only other thing would be the timing is off.

Engine idling up and down

Lets try the basic stuff first. When was the last time you changed the air filter? When was the last time you had the fuel injectors cleaned? Try running a bottle of fuel injector clear to see if that helps you any. And when was the last time you changed the gas filter. All of the items will give you the symptoms your experiencing with you car. I don't think its a sensor at this point because you would be getting the check engine light on your dash.

I hope this helps you out, if it does please give me a YES that I did attempt to assist you. Thank you

My 1993 legacy ran out of gas, and now wont start.

there may be air in the system, try turning the key on to the ignition and push in the center pin to the schnader valve on the fuel line at the top of the engine (have a rag loosely placed over the line to catch fuel when it comes out (it will)-it should be a c=decent stream, you should then be able to start it. Turn the key to crank, do not press the gas petal.

Really depends on what else you may want to do at the same time, like the timing belt etc. At least four hours labor at most shops plus the parts.

I have a 1992 Subaru

Depends on which belt - if it's the timing belt, no, the engine will no longer run, and if you have interference engine, you can ruin your engine. If it's the power steering belt, yes, you will just loose power steering. If it's the alternator belt, yes, for a while, until your battery runs out of power. If it's the air conditioning belt, yes, the car will run.

CAR WENT OFF ROAD AND

It's possible that you could have jumped timing, normally I would assume that the fuel pump cut off switch was tripped but if your plugs are wet after cranking that indicates thet you are pumping fuel through the injectors

1993 suburu legacy does not start sometimes. It

I am going to guess at this one since there is limited information to go on. I suspect from your explanation that it is electrical since you mention "there i s no clicking noise" Remove the battery cables (negative first to avoid grounding of the tool) and clean both the posts and cables. Reinstall the cables (negative last to avoid grounding of tool). If this is the cure it may take some time to realize since - as you say " it will start for long periods of time" Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks.
