Radiator fan makes noise for a bout 5-10 min after start

There may be a problem but some cars keep the radiator fan running after motor has been turned off to help cool the engine. My car uses this system but if it is cool out (below 60 degrees) it will not keep the fan running.

1998 Cadillac Catera - Battery Light stays on, but auto starts and runs ok

First have your alternator checked to see if the diode or regulator are getting weak. When they do that also have the battery tested for a dead cell. If after preforming these two test and nothing is found to be wrong, then it is most likely a computer error. when was the last time you had all the computer codings read and reset? If it's been awhile a good decoding cleanup my be the answer.

Where is the thermostate located on a 1998

Hi Friend:

To Locate your thermastat, Open your Hood and look down at the top of your radiator. You'll see a Top Raditor Hose that goes from your radiator to your Thermastat Housing.

You'll see a Hose clamp on the Thermastat housing .

NOTE: before you loosen the Hose Clamp Make sure you your car is cooled down and remove your radiator cap to release any pressure that is in your system.

After the Hose is off you'll see a Domed shaped Housing that is your Thermastat Housing. Remove the Bolts that Hold the Housing on and Seals the Cooling System. From Leaking out of the Housing.

After removing the Housing you'll see your Thermastat .Just remove it and Clean up all old gasket Material so you can replace the gasket with your new one .But put in your new thermastat 1st.

Then make sure you seal the gasket with Gasket Glue. And Replace the Housing Bolts and Tighten up good and Sung.

Put back on your hose then clamp. And Refill your Radiator with Coolant.

This will get your new thermastat in and get you Ready to go .

Changed motor now car will not start

the computers that tell the engine when to fire are sometimes different even with the same motors - replace the sensors from the old onto the new motor and i bet it will run -

also there are sensors other than just on the engine itself - also check all ground wires - and recheck all wires and make sure none are hanging without being connect - also check ur main fuse in the fuse box under the hood -

Is there a fuse or way to disalarm security in my car

No it is integrated into the vehicle electronic engine control system. It can be bypassed with some effort. Burt it can't be disconnected completely by pulling any fuse, if that were the case it would not be much good at stopping theft..

No power to any windows not a blown fuse front windows stuck open back windows stuck closed is it a wire

The windows in the is car are controlled through a central module called the BCM, this module needs to be scanned to see why the system is not allowing the windows to operate. See your local GM dealer for help, it requires a special tool.

Ce inseamna check engine?

Hi there:When the light comes on, one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are stored in the engine control module. These DTCs remain even if the light goes out. To address a Check Engine Light problem, the DTCs are retrieved and the appropriate troubleshooting information is followed in order to determine the problem. The Four Most Common Check Engine Light Scenarios and What to Do:* The Check Engine Light turns on and off or flickers. If the Check Engine Light comes on in the city but goes off on the freeway, then the fault is present during city driving conditions. Pay attention to whether or not the vehicle runs or drives any differently when the Check Engine Light illuminates. If vehicle performance does change, drive the car as little as possible and take it to be checked by a service professional as soon as possible. If there is no change in vehicle performance, you can drive home, but have it inspected as soon as possible. In this condition, you run a risk of the vehicle dying or not starting.* The Check Engine Light comes on and stays on.If the Check Engine Light illuminates constantly during driving with no noticeable driving or performance problems, there is a permanent fault in the emission control system. When this happens, the computer that controls the emission system usually has a backup program that runs while the fault is present. (These backup programs are often referred to as "limp home" mode programs.) You should get the vehicle serviced as soon as possible, but in most cases, the vehicle will continue to operate, though you run a risk of it dying or not starting.* The Check Engine Light illuminates, stays on, and there are performance problems. This means that a vital component of your emission control and engine management system has a serious problem. It usually involves a component or system needed for the vehicle to run at all. In most cases, drive the vehicle as little as possible. In many cases, the vehicle is not safe to drive at all -it could stop or stall out at any moment. It is best to pull over to a safe place and have the vehicle towed to an automotive diagnostician for a thorough inspection and repair.* The Check Engine Light light comes on and blinks in a steady pattern while driving.Don't confuse this steady pulsing of the Check Engine Light light (usually one or more flashes per second) with a flicker (see above). The Check Engine Light may stay on steadily or it may flash when the vehicle is accelerated. This is very serious. There is a severe failure of the emission control system that is causing the engine to misfire to the point that the catalytic converter is damaged each time the Check Engine Light flashes. It may mean that the catalytic converter is overheating to the point that it will glow red or, in extreme cases, start a fire on the underside of the vehicle. Immediately pull over to a safe place and have your vehicle towed to an automotive diagnostician for repair. Vehicles can be severely damaged and even destroyed by fire if this condition is ignored for too long.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day

Intermittent Transmission slippage

You have a fatal problem with the transmission that will require it be removed and a rebuilt installed. You either have worn out clutch pack plates or the system is losing hydraulic pressure due to hard and leaking seals (common on high mileage car and trucks) You can try having the unit flushed of all the old fluid and also putting in a can of LUCAS brand transmission conditioner to soften up and seal internal leaks, it may work, but the cost will be about $150
