WHY FUEL GAGE WONT WORK IN MY CADILLAC CTS 2004
The sender unit, which measures your fuel, is a resister attached to a float.(basically) the more fuel the less resistance, and the gauge reads a full tank .I believe this little unit has worn out.Unless you have an access hatch in the floor under the rear seat to access the unit the gas tank has to come out to replace.Contact your dealer for this information. This unit is incorporated into your fuel pump so this gets replaced as well. It can get pricey to deal with,so you might just want to keep the tank full all the time, given this is a ten year old car you have to be the best judge as to how much you want to spend on it .good luck
Cadillac CTS shutdown while driving
I would say most likely the ignition coils are bad
The dealer made their money when they sold it to you
They can fix it, but don't have very high standards for the
techs or no supervision,something !
Almost half the people that come to this site can't get a vehicle
even diagnosed at a dealer
The technology is passing everyone by
You have ignition coils on each cylinder
They only last about 6 to 7 years & will go
into failsafe if they misfire bad enough, that
is called a Class A misfire,you won't pick those
up in the shop with test equipment, maybe on a scope,
but I doubt many mechanics use one or know how
Have to just walk a new coil, road test or replace the coils,
when you have those issues
The main problem is vehicles are only driven
Never tested during the year & no one knows
that you have to do anything other than change
the oil & wait for them to break down & that is what
is happening
I would change all the ignition coils 6 or 8, replace the
front oxygen sensors & clean the maf sensor & replace
the spark plugs every 3 years, those I would have done
the week I bought it
I hope you changed ALL the fluids, power steering, trans,
brake & rear axle.
Need to road test with a professional scan tool to look at all data
& look at cylinder misfire count, fuel trim & see that the 8 monitors
run clear, you need them okey, in order to go to inspection & pass
I found a recall on 04 cts but they can't find it with my vin
Then it does not apply, recalls go by vin number on all makes and models, just because there is a recall that doesn't mean your particular car's VIN has the problem. Contact the dealer for a read out of all Recalls or call GM customer service with your make model and VIN code..
Tune up cadillac 2004 cts 3.2 liter
I got a 2004 cadillac cts with 130 thousand miles and I'm getting ready to give it a tune up. do the valve covres get filled with oil?? where as i would have to replace them too??
P0300
P0300 = radom misfire
could be any cylinder
monitor engine misfire screen and see which cylinder is misfirering
Refueled my 2006 cts now it won't start
had the same thing happen to me. dealership told me it was a safety feature that when it runs out of gas it wont start again without clearing the code so they said. I hade mine towed to dealership and let them mess with it, cause I also put more gas in it and eventually drained my battery trying to start it.
Disable ABS without losing brake lights?
Many of the master cylinders have connection for a brake light pressure switch. Some also active the brake lights by placing a switch directly under the brake pedal. You may need to build your own bracket.

How do I disable ABS without loosing brake lights?
that shouldnt be, put the fuse back and see if lights return . next go to front hubs you will see wires coming out of the hubs unplug and clean the contacts then plug in again abs will probley work . other wise onplug and black tape[ well ]the wires going up the frame so if a person changes hubs the abs can be easlie reactivated.
Power steering failure
It sounds like you have a belt slip on the power steering pulley. The water acts like a lubricant and the belt slips at the wet area. You may need a new belt.
