First pressure test the radiator for leakage throughout the cooling system (or Blockage) then you should have it checked for flow percentage. If that all checks out do a complete flush making sure to use the correct anti freeze. (providing you have checked rad fan switch, cool temp sensor, and cap.) Sidelight may mean the turn signal on the side of the car (sidemarker) or the turn signal right next to the headlights. To replace sidemarker, you need slide it toward the front of the car. You may need to use a little bit of force. Then, pry the bulb out of the fencer hole with your fingers. Is this you instrument cluster? vtraudt image If so, top left would be coolant temperature warning light. What is the coolant temp gauge reading? I would suspect faulty coolant temp sensor. time for a new transmission

Their is a 'gear selector' on the driver side of the tranny. Shown in the bottom of the pic

It is seams that the electronic or manuel kick down is not working or needs adjusting need to get it check out

I think you disconnect the ground lead from the battery, go have a coffee or whatever and connect the battery back. That is how it works on mine but it is not a 1996.

Misfires? Vacuum leak? Dirty/bad MAF sensor? Steering sensor would not come to mind initially. ABS light on?
