Antenna does not come up

If the antenna motor makes noise, then the antenna motor is ok, and the antenna is stuck, oil it with a light lubricating oil (3-in-1, Marvel Mystery oil, store brands, etc.)

If antenna motor makes no sound, replace. Antenna motor.

I don't have a service guide for this car to help you replace the antenna motor. Usually replacing these motors are a screwdriver job, but you may need to buy a special "antenna wrench" to remove a specialized keyed nut holding the antenna to the body.

Hi.my son (college student/part time

Hi, causes of excessive current drain from a car battery include things like lights that remain on (trunk and hood lights, interior lights, brake lights, etc.) and also relays that may be stuck on, or modules that are not going to sleep or powering down. A fuel pump relay that sticks on may keep the fuel pump running after the engine is shut off. A switch or relay that powers a rear window defogger can stick on, pulling current from the battery after the ignition is off. An electronic suspension module, ABS module or keyless entry module may remain active long after it should have powered down.An accessory such as a DVD player, game console or cell phone charger left plugged into a rear seat power receptacle may be pulling power from the battery. So before you spend a lot of time trying to figure out where the amps are disappearing, check all of the vehicle's power receptacles to see if something is plugged in that may be using power.

FINDING THE CAUSE OF THE CURRENT DRAIN

If the key-off current reading is above specifications (typically, more than 50 mA one hour after the vehicle has been shut off), the current drain is too high. It's time to start pulling fuses and relays to find the fault. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual or a wiring diagram to identify the fuses and relays. Then pull the fuses and relays one at a time until the current reading drops. Avoid pulling the fuses for the PCM or other KAM-sensitive modules until you have checked all of the other circuits.
Once you've found the circuit that is causing the excessive current drain, check the relay, switch, module or other components in the circuit and replace as needed.
Sometimes a bad alternator diode can cause a car battery to run down. A good diode should only pass current in one direction. If it leaks current in the opposite direction, it may keep the charging circuit on when the engine is not running, causing the battery to run down.

Battery keeps going down on 1994 LS400. new

More likely, the alternator is not putting sufficient charge back into the battery as it runs. Take the car to Autozone or similar business that gives free checks of the alternator operation. If it checks ok, then you likely have a constant load on the battery that takes charge away all the time--a light in a hidden place that is not being switched off like a trunk, glove box, or under-hood light. Remove the negative battery cable, and insert a test light between the cable and negative battery post. If there is some circuit drawing current, the lamp will light. Try removing the fuses one at a time to see if something continues to run there (the car must be off and all openings closed or it's light disabled). Hope this helps!

94 lexus cluster troubleshooting

You need to replace 3 capacitors on the boards behind the dash. The capacitors on yours are now faulty, the problem will just get worse. Check lexls.com or some other lexus websites and it will describe how to remove the dash to get at the boards. C142, C147 and C212 are the ones that need to be replaced. Cost me bout $50 with parts and labor at an electronic repair shop.

My 1994 Lexus LS400 keeps

this can be caused by fuel problems, check your fuel filters if they are the clear ones instead of the full metal ones check for bubbling in it, when the car is hot air gets in and makes it hard to pick up the fuel into the injectors. other issues that may cause it are clogged injectors, try running fuel cleaner through the car and use 98 octane, this will help with the performance and clear out any carbon deposits in the motor. definately sounds like a fuel related issue tho. when you are hitting the pedal its starving the engine., check this out and let me know how it goes so we can diagnose it down to the very issue. thanks

I placed the battery in the car backwards when you

Did you check the fusible link-PAL fuses that are out in the engine compartment? Here is an image of what they look like if you have not already checked them out, and you can usually see if they are blown out by looking through the clear plastic cap over them. If there are no blown out fusible links (and they all should be blown out) then there might be more serious damage done to the vehicles electrical system and those lexus vehicles do have very sensitive control modules.
