Low beam burnt out

The headlight on an 03 baja are a double element bulb for high an low beam. I replaced mine with 9007 bulb from auto parts store. Be careful to pay attention to bulb position, they can be installed up side down having the high beam as your low beam. I would shine the lights up against a wall or garage door and flip your high and low beams on and off to see how the shine.

BELOW list is compiled from our staff with a more likely cause of overheating.

Radiator cap failure. Must be able to handle 15 psi tested.
Antifreeze failure. Has the coolant been tested or changed in the last few years?
Fan Clutch failure. or does the cooling fan
cycle?
Clogged radiator.
Thermostat
failure. Thermostat's do fail, you you have any memory of changing it?

Smells hot no oil leaks

Subie's power steering resivoir is mounted on top of the engine and are notorious for leaking onto the top of the engine and puddling on top of the head. Once the engine reaches normal op temp, it burns the puddle of fluid and produces the burnt oil smell and sometimes a bit of smoke coming out from under the hood. I have driven my legacy like this for thousands of miles. You can either fix/replace the reservoir, or just top off the fluid (dextron 3 or 4 ATF) and clean the pooled fluid off the top of the engine at the car wash. Hope this helps!

OVER HEATING ADDED ANTIFREESE LASTED AROUND 7 DAYS

I am not specifically familiar with the Subaru but from what you state it clearly sounds like a Head Gasket Failure!
Have you noticed any Steam coming out of the Tailpipe? If so, then you obviously have a Head Gasket Failure. This is very common on vehicles with Aluminum Cylinder Heads and Cast Iron Blocks. The difference in expansion causes a Scrubbing Action on the head Gasket(s) and ultimately after many Heat-Cool cycles the gasket fails. Typically a vehicle 6 years of age will have somewhat over 100K Miles and has seen many Heat-Cool cycles.

Check with your Subaru Dealer to see if there have been any recalls for this problem.

I would strongly suggest taking it to an ASE Certified Mechanic to have it properly diagnosed.

Replacing headlights 2003 Subaru Legacy

If your just trying to replace the bulbs you'll have to twist the grey cover on the back side of the head lamp lens assembly either clockwise or counter. they are usually very hard to turn because they have a water tight sealing O-ring that your turning against. But, it is much easier to turn the drivers' side if you remove the battery, I recommend it. Once you have the covers off you will see the back of the bulb being held in by a little wire hold-down, you can unhinge it just like a safety pin(push it in,down,& let it spring it's self out and away from the bulb). Then just pull on the white wire to free the bulb, DO NOT TOUCH the new bulb glass with your fingers cuz the oils will cause the bulb to explode once the bulb is turned on. Then just install in reverse order in which you removed it all. Sometimes the simplest actions take the most complex explinations, don't they? Hope this is what you were asking about, & I hope it helps...

I have a subaru baja that I just love but the fule

Disconnect the connector at the fuel pump. This may allow the needle to come down which would be a good thing. If it stays up you may need a sending unit thats in the tank, and the gauge. Also try disconnecting the battery. This may allow the needle to settle.
If the needle comes down thats good.. You may be able to replace just the sending unit.

Engine lite on, after i had the emmisions done

The check engine light is definately an emission control issue. Assuming that the light is not flashing. What all did they do at the emission place? I know down here in Tucson, AZ they pull the gas cap off and check to see if it holds pressure, if they dont put it back on properly it will turn on the check engine light. The check engine light can come on for hundreds of reasons. Your best bet is to run down to an Auto Zone and have them run a free scan on the code. Once this is donw write back with the code and I will decipher it for you.

I have what looks like

when you have excessive brake dust and wheel noise it is an indicator of the brakes not releasing from the rotor. usually due to the caliperts not sliding on the guide pins. this is an easy fix just remove the calipers and lube the guide pins with an anti seize and the problem will be solved. if this problem has gone on for a while it would be a good idea to replace the rotors and pads because chances are that the rotors are more than likely warped
