Your fuel system needs servicing. Does the pump come on for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to ON? It should to pressurize the system, and then shut off till engine is cranked or running. If you don't hear it buzz on , it may have failed. If it does work, it may not be working to specs, or the fuel filter may be plugged, preventing gas from reaching the engine. If the pump is not working, check fuses first, both under dash and under hood. A mechanic would check for power to the pump and the ground for the pump, before condemning the fuel pump. The gas tank would have to be removed to replace the pump.Good luck.
1986 Ford Tempo LX wipers won't shut off, all the other speeds work fine.
You must have a bad wiper switch. By any chaqnce, is the headlight switch and wiper switch on the same stalk? The bad alternator may have shorted out the switch or it may have caused some wires to get hot, melted the insulation, and the heasdlight feed wire is passing current to the wipers-this would be hard to find, but look at the connector for the wiper switch, and check the wires both before and after the connector as far as you can to look for a wiring problem. I hope the new wiper switch fixes it.
Good luck.
I have a 1987 Ford
This may be as simple as a bad idle air control valve which controls the idle , it may also be a weak fuelpump, i would first have the fuel pressure tested to make sure its good, then i would clean the throtlebody with cleaner and replace the idle air valve. the engine it must not be skipping due to a sparkplug or sparkplug wire, there are many things that will cause this. you will neeed to do some checking and make sure the engine is operating good, is you have a bad idle air control valve you should be able to hold the gas pedal a little and keep the engine running after a few minutes the engine should run okay with you holding the pedal , keep in mind this is a 1987 tempo i dont know how many miles are it or if the engine is in need of work but if this is whats happening then try cleaning the throtle and replacing the iac valve. good day.

I need to replace the
there is one bolt with a peace of steel at the bottom of the distributor shaft thats what holds down the distributor but if you remove the distributor your going to have to redo the timing.
I have a
That has a timing chain not a timing belt.
I am betting that the vehicle was severely overheated when the water pump belt broke causing the loss of compression. If you pull the valve cover and the camshaft is moving than the timing chain is not the problem. It would be highly unlikely for a timing chain to slip and/or keep turning the cam if it did slip.
It is almost impossible to do the timing chain cover with the motor in the car. You will need to remove the sway bar mounts from the sub frame and the bracket that protects the fuel pressure regulator. You will than be able to get the motor low enough to remove the crank pulley.
