Check your fuse ,, CHeck if all your in puts is on the switch and also see if it is going out i would think it is your switch but please make sure before replacing

yes replace the lens and that will fix the problem.

IT BE NEXT TO THE BLOWER MOTOR WITH WIRES GOING INTO IT HELD ON WITH TWO SCREWS CALLED A BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER.

Buy a cheap shop manual for full instructions and torque values.

Check for voltage and ground at the fan connector, with hvac turned on. If good voltage and ground with no fan action, suspect the fan. Use a testlite. Did you check for voltage at the applicable fuse circuit? Even if the fuse is good, if no voltage, the circuit is still dead.

Perhaps a bad Thermostat

Is it standard or automatic, I think it must be Standard because that doesn't happen with Automatics. If you put it in low and it only goes backwards someone had it (The transmission apart) and put the slider in back wards or something like that. Perhaps the forward gears are gone so they wanted to see if reverse works. Maybe you meant when you shift into a forward gear it doesn't work but when you shift it into reverse it does work. There is a fork like gear that moves the gears in and out of high and low range and it might be broken and it is possible if you find it hasn't been ground up in the internal gears it might be welded back in place and be sure to grind off every bit of flux so the gears can work smoothly. Best thing is to go to a junk yard that still has older cars like the Tempo so you can buy the transmission.

Because the transmission is dead. reverse works on different parts than drive on these cars. And since no one uses reverse more than drive? well you get my point.

That's bad and it could be that your Electronic Radiator Thermostat is causing all the problem as it tells the fan to come on or stay off.

The vehicle is in "limp mode." Several things can cause this problem. Need to take vehicle into a repair shop and have them run diagnostic test...no easy answer to this problem. However, my guess it is either the PCM or TCM.
