WIRING BROKEN/GROUNDED? IN DOOR PANEL OR CONDUIT TO DOOR ON 1989 C/K1500 SILVERADO 5.7L TRUCK, HOW TO FIX AND WHERE WOULD BE THE MOST LIKELY PLACE TO CHECK
I used to do some wiring repairs at a GMC dealer,89 trucks were still fairly new at the time so didn't see a lot of problems.I do remember a couple of Safari vans and pickups that would get a broken wire in the harness "boot" from the door to the jam.The harness can usually be disconnected with a couple of large plugs behind the kick panel. If a wire is broken to something in the door,it's probably in the boot(these wires bend when the door opens/closes).Use a multimeter and the wires color code(every wire has different colors/stripe colors)to find the broken one.If you do find the break, run a new piece of wire to a point in the door and cab past where it will bend(learned the hard way when I spliced the wire inside the boot, trouble came back in 2 months)
