Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2003 Chevy Silveradoour rearview mirror has gone off and the airbag light stays on.i've determined that this is a fuse, the SIR fuse under the hood, but what I can't figure out is why it's blowing. It's either something to do with when we hook up the lights to the trailer or it might be from where we installed a new car stereo. I took it to the Chevy dealer for some other things and told them there was a fuse blown to the rearview mirror and to the airbag and just asked them to replace the fuse while it was in the shop.on top of the $700 i was already spending, they charged me $98 to diagnose that it was a blown fuse and like $11 to change it, even though I already told them it was the airbag fuse. Highway robbery. And they wonder why we don't like 'em.
How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Where applicable, make sure throttle linkage isn't holding the throttle open. Clean the throttle body and iac.
If you have a scanner that shows live engine data, you can look at idle and idle desired, If idle desired is close to normal, then the pcm knows the idle is too high and trying to compensate. In that case, check for stuck iac or vacuum leak. There could be other issues?
Two things come to mind. There are many though. First, did you put the bolts in for the torque converter? Even the best of us, forget some times. Second is a bad pump. It's not hard to break a pump either. If the converter is not set in place and you have to pull the transmission to the engine with the bolts. The pump just broke.
But again, there are many things inside the transmission that was already bad/broke and will not engage.
This fuse is for the body control module, so your draw is probably something controled by the bcm. Get a manusl, get a list, and eliminate them one by one until your draw is gone! Good luck, let me know if you need any more help!
GM does not service the bulbs to fix this issue, they sell only the complete cluster. Usually run between 250-375. If you remove the cluster from dash find the bulb that is burned out take it Radio Shack (if you can find one) they should have a replacement.
Either you need to turn the headlamp switch, or move the switch on the light itself, or the switch in the door jam is not working. If you push the switch in (door jam button) while the door is open and the light does not go out after you have checked the other stuff, the switch in the door jam is bad. That can depend. If it is machined then it is suppose to be there. If it has threads then possibly something is missing. If it smooth it could be a vacuum. Start the car and place your finger over the hole and see if it pulls or if it makes a change it the way the vehicle runs. most like likely it is a casting hole and is nothing to worry about. You can consult you shop repair manual or the dealership if you are still concerned.
First if your key is worn to much is will not raise tumblers in cylinder try new key cut by code at the dealer, (they will need proof of ownership and an id to get key code) if that does not work then you most likely will need a new lock cylinder.
This code is not an emission code. It is for a reduced engine power fault. The most common repair is replacing the throttle actuator motor. It may be also set due to a corralation problem between the gas pedal sensor and the throttle actuator. In some cases, it may be set due to a wiring or ECM problem
Possible ignition switch. Check all ignition fuses with a test light and key on, if there is one or more that doesn't have power it will need the switch. Also if it is a 4.3l engine it could be distributor.
Knowing how these gauges work , I'd say you have an instrument cluster problem not oil sender unit. 2003 - 2006 GM had bad stepper motors in the instrument cluster . If there was a problem with the oil sender the gauge would default to zero .
Engine Oil Pressure Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine oil pressure as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the engine oil pressure. The engine oil pressure gage defaults to 0 kPa (0 psi) or below if:
?€¢
The PCM detects a malfunction in the engine oil pressure sensor circuit.
?€¢
The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the PCM.
