2000 jetta need to remove steering wheel
This is not an easy procedure, especially since you've never done it before. With the wheels in the straight ahead position, look at the back of the steering wheel, you'll see two holes. One at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock. You stick a small flat blade screwdriver in the first hole and you pry on the retaining spring while gently pulling on the airbag until it releases. Repeat on the other side. I'm a professional mechanic and the first time I did it, it took me over a half hour to figure it out. Now I can do it in less than a minute. Might want to take it to the dealer.
Smokes when revved up
VERY WHITE SMOKE: BLOWN HEAD GASKET. DARKER SMOKE...ENGINE WEAR...NO SIMPLE FIX...SORRY
Smokes blue smells like diesel when revved up
Blue smoke is oil. If you have visible oil smoke and the diesel smell which would be associated with the burnt oil you should be getting your engine looked at by qualified mechanics. You have a serious problem which could easily turn into a new engine if not looked into soon. It could be bad rings, worn engine, stuck valve(s), burnt valve(s), all of which are repairable.
Changed speedo clouster
You cannot interchange these speedo clusters as they are coded to the vehicle ECU. The only way to repair the failed LCD display (a common problem) is to incur the exorbitant cost of a new unit installed and coded by the dealers. I have had electronics "experts" strike out in the past so if someone else has a solution I stand to be corrected!Sorry- not what you wanted to hear!
Whats the most common part that causes no spark on a 2000 jetta 2.0 gas
If on just one cylinder, it would be the coil on top of the spark plug, or if your car has an Ignition Module, then it would be that. I have heard sometimes it's the computer (if no Ignition Module). If you need one, don't get from dealer... get from
www.AutohausAz.com which is 1/3 dealer price... and install yourself as it's 2 bolts at top of engine bay. That is what my 1998 Passat had go bad. Coils too. Always keep a spare coil in the car for the inevitable day it fails. No tools to replace... can do at side of road.
Oil leaking around turbo on 2000 jetta
If you are getting boost, your turbo is likely not blown. There is a banjo bolt connection for the turbo oil. If it has loosened, then it would be leaking oil on the outside of the turbo. A blown turbo leaks on the inside (I believe, though not positive). I don't have a TDI, but have a VW 1.8T with a turbo I recently replaced. There is really nothing to fix other than to replace the turbo. It is not a tough job (at least the 1.8T wasn't) though it took 11 hours to complete. So you should try to get the oil leak fixed (near too much heat to ignore) but should likely only need to replace if it's not providing boost, or making strange sounds.
