You need to check first that the small wire is not staying energized. Disconnect it from the starter motor solenoid. Connect the battery as normal. The starter motor should not do anything. This means the control wire is staying energized, if it is staying energized that circuit needs to be tested back to the ignition switch, the ignition switch may be shorted or defective. A 12 volt test lamp or volt meter may be used for testing for power or energized condition.

That indeed is strange. It could be one of or a combination of things a number of things: a dying fuel pump, bad plugs or plug wires, a dirty fuel filter which needs replaced, carb problems, water in the gas. If you have really high mileage on the car, it could even be a bad clutch getting worse. Other than those admitted "guesses" I have no idea. If this has never happened before, I would give it a new fuel filter, put in a good additive like Sea Foam, make sure it is firing on all cylinders and take it from there. Good luck, bro . . .

If you can't get the computer to work, send it in to a rebuilder. Lots cheaper than buying a new or used one.
