Cant get my distributor installed correctly in 1994 gmc 1500 has a 350 in it?

if you didnot mark rotor orientation before removing pyt engine on top dead center # 1 cyl line roter up to #1 plugwire post on dist cap with a light look down the shaft bore for a slot that matches the end of dist shaft if they do not match p[osition get a long screw driver an turn the shaft in engine until they do then drop dist you may have to turn the rotor backwards about a tooth when you start to drop whn the cam and dist gears mesh it will line up oil pump drive shaft to dist shaft

Truck backfires and stalls when excellerated half way.

Sounds like the timing open the distributor and in there is a relector,is there alot of corrosion? This reluctor has a tendency to shift out of position causing the vehicle timing to retar,Another area to inspect is the MAP (manifold air pressure) .This sensor monitor engine load according to vacuum when this goes out you cant accelerate the vehicle and it sputters as the vehicle tries to accelerate, you need to check that the vacuum hose has not come off,or just failed

My truck will not stay running

First check the fuel pressure it should be 9-13 psi with the key on and engine off. If fuel pressure is within the specs then take EGR valve off and clean the carbon out of it then do the same with the idle air control valve. After sensors are cleaned you will need to reset the computer by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery or pull the ECM fuse for 1 second.

1994 sierra problems

sounds like the IAC "Idle air control" is actin up. If the truck aint performing like it should, it could be a fuel pump issue, filter, etc. Go with the cheaper IAC first.

How do I change the O2 Sensor on a 1994 GMC 1500 5.6 L engine

start looking from the exhaust manifold and just look right down the pipes and soon as you see the sensor thats it . it is more than likly going to be pretty tough getting out . start spraying it down with pb blaster for a day or 2 . hopefully that will get it loose enough to remove it . i believe the size of the wrench you want is 1 1/8 inch and the wire just follow that til you get to the pigtail and unplug . install just reverse it

I have no tail lights

I had this very same problem on a GM truck at work the other day, I believe it to be a bad headlight switch because I cycled the switch between headlight and parking light positions, I had tails when I had the switch in the parking light position and not in the headlight position, changed the switch and everything worked, Made my day!

How to change out a ignition switch

First remove plastic column cover, and possibly plastic panel just below that. may be star wrench or regular Phillips. When you get the panels off you will see two bolts holding the ignition switch in and a harness running down the column. I've never done a 94 specifically so I cannot tell you how long this harness is. I've seen them 10 inches long, and some 2 feet long.It will be zip tied tight up agents the column.Fallow the harness to the connector. Disconnect connector. Cut zip ties holding harness in place BE CAREFUL DO NOT CUT ANY WIRES!! ONLY ZIP TIES.Unbolt bots holding ignition switch cylinder in place, and install new one. May wan to get connector grease for the connector to keep moisture ect out. Oh, and remember to roll window down and disconnect battery before doing anything. Good luck

94 GMC won't start, lights

If your starter and battery are both good chances are your ignition switch is bad and will not allow power to your starter. If your replace the switch it should solve your problem. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

NO POWER TO FUSE BOX FOR PARK LIGHTS

If you have power for ANY running lights, you have power for the parking lights. If they do not light, they simultaneously have blown the bulbs about the same time. The other, is the dash switch, for the parking lights, section of the head lamp rocker switch has failed & needs replaced.
