1994 GMC Sierra - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

1994 gmc sierra idles good, runs great in reverse, try to go forward and it stutters falls on itself and sometimes dies, all new sensors, new tbi, new fuel pump, new filter, new plugs and wires.

Reminiscent of a car of the past with a cracked oil filled ignition coil that lowered the oil level so the spark shorted internally on left hand corners but ran well at all other times - it took a while to find the fault... Another car of my experience behaved exactly like yours - more throttle is mostly applied when moving off forwards than reverse and consequently the power unit moves further in reaction on it's mountings stretching wires and pipes more. This car had a damaged connection that moved and lost contact unless driven very gently...

My truck seems like is not passing gasoline,

I would start with the ground by the fuel tank that leads to the fuel pump. Corrosion has been known to cuase erratic fuel issues on these trucks. Remove the ground lug (bolt) and scrapand wire brush the frame good ,the ring terminal at the end of the wire and the underside of the bolt. Check the wire end for rot (if it flexes too much) replace the ring terminal and put some silicone or heavy grease under it and attach securely to the frame. If that doesn't work you may need another pump I had to replace my replacement after 5 years (buy a mid range priced pump) not the least expensive from Am*zon or R*ck Auto.

Hi First of all check the adjustment on the rear wheel thats sticking sometimes the brake pad comes away from the metal it is fixed to this maybe the case on your vehicle, the make & year of vehicle would help further but I a sure you got something to check now. Please leave me feedback, Malcolm Campbell.

1994 Sierra C/K 1500.

The lock cylinder is the most likely suspect and is in stock at your favorite local auto parts store. To change it, the steering wheel has to come off first. The lock cylinder is held in place by one screw. If there are more problems, you will see them when the steering wheel comes off.

94 gmc 1500 transmission mount broken??

Let me get this clear.. you did not remove the cross member to drop the pan?? WHY?.. If you broke the bolt loose that is made into the transmission mount.. you need to be able to tighten the mount somehow.. if you can't tighten the mount, yes, you need to replace the mount . NEXT TIME - Use a jack stand under the front of the drive shaft to hold up the transmission.. this will make the job easier!!

94 gmc 4x4 1500 overdrive sometimes works

Check for a transmission speed sensor fault (OBDII scan). Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up, and no overdrive. Also transmission filter should have been changed at 80,000 miles. Age of your vehicle(1994) warrants the filter service. Transfer case (4WD) needs to be serviced as well.

Gage failures are very common on this truck, more than likely the gage stepper motor that drives the gage needle is defective.

How to remove a broken off IAC valve from the throttle body of 1994 GMC Sierra 4.3 liter? The threads are stuck in the inlet of the body

if there is an existing hole in what is left , try using a "easy out" tool of some sort, available from auto parts shop or quality tool stores be careful and gentle as any removal tool will tend to expand what is left into the thread and make it harder to remove if you have to drill a hole or enlarge a hole to get a tool involved . remove the throttle body from the engine so that metal swarf is not allowed to get into the engine

94 GMC sierra wont start. just single click. battery checks good. Starter taken off and checked at autozone, good. all connections were tight and no corrosion on bat terminals. any ideas

Check very closely where the negative battery cable connects to the engine. Any looseness or corrosion there will prevent the full power of the battery to activate the starter. Check the negative battery cable itself to make sure it is in good condition and has no other connections than to the engine.

Wont idle right (sometimes wont start unless put gas in the throttle bottle). Transmission wont shift until get rpm s high. All this happened after removing and installing engine again.

make sure all vacuum lines are connected properly and there are no pinched fuel or air lines. Also make sure all electrical connectors are properly installed.
