ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS WILL HELP

Hi
The code means---
Catalyst Efficiency
Below Threshold
(Bank 1)
Please make sure there is no air entering the engine behind the maf, such as a vacuum leak or leaks in ducting between the maf and the throttle body.
If that's no the case then its an issue with injectors clogging and they are not working due to "fretting". This "fretting" is electrical terminals to injectors getting oxidation on them and is fixed by unplugging them and replugging them in. The fix is to put a small dab of die-electric grease on the terminals.
I would suggest an injector service with the new GM procedure using "Top Engine Cleaner". This may be all you need but that P0420 bothers me. P0420, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold, can be set by a poor connection at the PCM or a damaged wiring harness.
Please rate this soluton as FixYa if found useful.
Thanks
Rylee

drive shaft - We had a vibration problems in our Chevy S10. We were told by two mechanics that the drive shafts in the 2003 Chevy S10 were not good. The second mechanic when we told him we had a Chevy S10 said, even before we described the problem, "you have a vibration problem don't you?" We were also told that this was common among these trucks. Do you agree?
8 months of trauma! The original d/s has a double Cardan style...other wise known as a constant velocity u-joint, at the pinion end/rear end connection. My Ford dealer had it to the d/shaft re-build place and they did a new d/s w/single u-joint at the rear end. WRONG! The OEM shaft has a needle zerk on the Cardan joints and most shops don't know about it and don't see it and so it never gets grease. What you need to do is just re-build the original c/v Cardan and the prob. goes away. My dealer finally installed a double/double Cardan d/s!!! $1200. NO CHARGE TO ME! Problem solved! The OEM as I recall, has a double cardan at the rear end only. This one has a double at the hanger bearing and at the rear end!! I also installed the S-10 extended cab drive shaft alignment kit from Stealth Conversions. They claim even if you have the double cardan this kit will make it last a lot longer. $42. for the kit and $200 for the install by my gar. guy. I would have done it myself but the bolts on the rear end needed to be heated to get them off and install the 2 degree shims. No way I'm laying on the floor w/a torch 2 inches from my nose to do that!! Now it is as smooth as silk! What an ordeal! This is the ONLY way to solve the vibration problem. You need,at minimum, the OEM double cardan (C/V) system at the pinion connection. You probably don't need the double at the hanger bearing. Hope this helps.

p0420 code on my 2003 chevy s10
Hello and welcome. the trouble code P0420 means,In order to maintain low emissions of hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx), the engine controls system uses a 3-way catalytic converter (TWC). The catalyst within the TWC promotes a chemical reaction, which oxidizes the HC and CO that are present in the exhaust gas. This reaction converts these chemicals into harmless water vapor and carbon dioxide. The catalyst also reduces the NOx which converts into nitrogen. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors this process using heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 2, which is located in the exhaust stream past the TWC. The HO2S bank 1 sensor 2 produces an output signal which indicates the oxygen storage capacity of the catalyst. This determines the catalysts ability to effectively convert the exhaust emissions. If the catalyst is functioning correctly, the bank 1 of the HO2S 2 signal will be far less active than the signal that is produced by bank 1 of the HO2S 1. This indicates that the TWC oxygen storage capacity is below an acceptable threshold. in simple terms, the cat. coverter is bad and will need to be replaced. the cat. converter simply is not removing the excessive emission is it is designed to do

2003 chevy s10 - keeps blowing out AC fuse. Will work for a couple minutes then compressor quits working. Check the fuse, it is blown out. Put in a new fuse, works a couple minutes, then quits, fuse blown out again. AC works nice and cold but just a few minutes. Want to know if this is an existing problem or what to try before I take in and spend money on diagnosis.
Unplug the a/c compressor, there will be a plug near the pulley. Install a new fuse. Start the vehicle and turn the a/c on. Wait about the same amount of time it took for the fuse to blow in the past. Did the cues blow?
If no replace the a/c compressor, the clutch has gone bad.
If yes, than the wiring between the fuse and the relay or the relay to the comps sore is grounded. A careful inspection of the wiring should reveal the problem.

Where is Body Control Module located on a 2003 Chevrolet S10 pickup
BCM body control module, best would be to go to your local parts place and ask for a print out of the location.
