I own an auto repair shop and just replaced a very good customer's driveshaft in an a 2007 Equinox. The center u-joint was bad and due to the way GM manufactured this particular shaft the u-joint is not serviceable. So instead of a $15. u-joint and some labor we bought a $545. drive-shaft and my customer really got the shaft. Replacing the driveshaft is not a diy job. The cv joint that bolts to the transmission is tricky. Maybe Obama can GIVE them some more money. As far as I am concerned Ford is the only USA manufacturer building agood vehicle

Rod Caps - Tighten in two (2) Steps: 15FtLbs; +75 degrees of bolt head rotation. New bolts should be installed as these are one time use "Torque to yield"

It only leaks when the engine is running. To replace the seal you need to remove the transmission/clutch/flywheel assembly -or in the case of auto transmission - the torque converter which attaches to the rear of the engine. To remove the old seal you simply prise it out with a screwdriver, lubricate the new seal and gently tap it into position. However as mentioned, you need to remove the transmission first..

code p 0449 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP)system, vent valve ---circuit malfunction===causes --wiring ---EVAP cannister purge valve ---ECM check the wiring for breaks , bad connections replace the purge valve the vent valve is part of the purge system of the EVAP system( fuel system)

The resolution was that my brother had tried to unscrew each of 3ea bolts fastening the fuse panel (the one located beneath the hood) in order to remove the protective plastic casing [the one that says 'remove and discard to access the fuse panel"] you find following the removal of outer covering. Well after replacing the 30A ignition fuse he had blown by arching the positve lead to the chassis or something the car still would not start. It would not start because he never retightened the fuse panel. So the 'starter fuse' checked out good but there was no connectivity to that side of the circuit. That'll get you every time.
