Sound like a vacuum leak. Under the plastic cover marked 3800 series 2 there are a few thin plastic tubes going into rubber boots that have been known to slit or crack allowing too much air into the system.
Start with the ones in front of the fuel intake manifold. Loks like a valve cover on the top of the engine. . Notice on the right. Two plastic tubes going into on rubber boot. Carefully pull it off and check the rubber for splits. Dead center on the back of the fuel l manifold are two more small tubes (2 into 1)
same as in the front. Check this also. This Y shaped tube split on mine. When I tried to remove it. It fell apart. So I walked into pepboys auto center and purchased a box of vacuum T's. Assorted and a assorted package of 4 2 inch vacuum tube and made my own.

I would try the throttle position sensor and the intake air temperature sensor as well. What you may have here is a timing issue.

Hi Annette, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair. Annette, if you are already able to get inside the trunk, remove the lever that goes to the lock actuator because the actuator may be locked up. Then see if it will open. NOTE: If the lock solenoid is mounted to the latch this will not work. If that doesn't help, then see if you can remove the bolts that hold the latch to the trunk and open the trunk that way so you can see better what the problem could be. depending on the make/model of your vehicle, the engine may require tilting. shoukld be done by a certified mechanic.

I think it will have a control module that's bad

The only way I am aware of is to see the key/fob/remote programming guy at a carmax or similar newer car sales place. They are independent contractors who show up once or twice a week to reprogram the cars entry devices. It costs about $75 if they don't need to provide you with a new fob. $150 if they do.

I would check the transmission and engine mounts but also it may be time for a transmission fluid change. It has a service interval just like oil. 50000 miles

There is a thing under your dash called the actuator that tells what blower doors open and close. Like when you put on the defroster the switch it to the floor or vents. Not expensive fix and it`s really helpful to have a shop manual. You can buy chilton or one of the other companys but the shop manual which cost about $20 more tells you every thing about that car. nuts bolts trouble shooting in detail not like the general info from a chilton. It`s a 2000 buick regal ls. make sure when it gets hot eh fans are running. There is a coolant sensor just below the top radiator hose ON THE ENGINE. This sensor tells the fans when to go on when the engine gets hot and also serves as a low coolant sensor. unplug the sensor and replace it. use a open end or box wrench. if your quick you can replace it and only loose a few ounces of coolant. Turn on the headlights. If they're nice and bright, try the horn. If the horn sounds o.k. the battery is probably o.k. Locate the starter under the motor. Find a spot on the side of the starter that you can hit with a hammer. Have somebody turn the key while you hit the starter with the hammer. If it starts, you need a new starter. You can only do this a couple of times before it won't work at all.

Go to regalgs.org and search cluster fix. There are resistors on the circuit board that come loose over time.

Fuel pump resistor is bad. It is located in the passenger side front fender well.

The pump is on the pulley end of the engine under the alternator.
