It's sounds like your audio outputs are dead which require an oscilloscope to test , Check your audio connections to the unit , Did they check the speakers ?

It is a safety feature so you won't won't drive while watching a video or movie while driving.It makes you wonder why they would even make an up front dvd player with a screen if it is illegal ! (And it is !) So now your parents won't be mad at me because I can't give you the solution to make it where you can see it ! I probably just saved your life and someone else's !
