Pentax Cameras - Page 9 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
My Pentax K-30 photos are nearly pitch black. Is there something I can do to fix it myself?
We need far more information - lens in use, shutter speed and aperture settings, white balance setting, ISO setting, exposure compensation, lighting conditions, subject matter etc. All of these have a bearing on exposure. From your description, it sounds as if your images are seriously under exposed. Have you looked in the trouble-shooting section of the camera manual ?

How to open the battery box?
From examining the plethora of images available on Google, it seems there is a sliding cover on the base of the camera. Use your thumb to push this gently towards the edge, and the batteries should be revealed (also, probably, the SD card for when you need to replace that.)

Pentax A40 will not hold date and time
No there is no internal battery. It uses the same battery for regular operation and flash. You will need to reset the clock if you remove the battery or if the battery has run dry.
The menu and time operation will all appear only if the battery is in place.
Why can't I download pictures to computer?
You can do that by two methods.
1.
Memory Media
The E40 accepts SD and SDHC memory cards and has approximately 10MB of internal storage.
Insert the memory into your laptop SD card slot.
You may not need a SD Card carrier as the SD type for both Camera and laptop is same.
2.
Connectivity
There is a USB/AV connector on the side of the camera as well as a dock connector on the bottom of the camera.
