I just put brand new

Sounds as if there is a malfunction in the flash. The batteries are in the correct orientation, aren't they ?

What card does my Minolta DiMAGE 1 use

The answer to this, and many other questions of a similar nature, may be contained in the manual. If you have no manual, you can download a manual for almost any equipment by Googling the make and model followed by the word Manual, then follow the appropriate link(s).

What is the biggest size memory card for my Dimage A1 Minolta Camera?

An older camera, the DiMage A1 came with a 16mb card. Some cameras are picky about which cards work best. Compact Flash cards are sold in different speeds and your camera may work faster with a faster card. This camera can use Compact Flash type I or type II, and is compatible with the microdrive card. Since this camera was introduced the capacities of Compact Flash cards have increased dramatically so I believe you should be able to use a larger card with no problems but I would check out some of the online photography sites to read about other's experiences. Here is one good resource: http://www.imaging-resource.com/ Hope this helps!

Film is on the reel the wrong way round

Was it shot with the (I presume cine) camera upside down ? All I can suggest is that you get it transferred to DVD, copy it to computer, then use VLC (free) to edit it and invert it.

You cannot find the age of Minolta lenses by the serial number, Minolta didn't use serial numbers like that. Some lenses have (c) xxxx for the year the type were first manufactured but that means the range, not that lens. This site has the different versions of the range. How do I get the remote RC-3 control to function?

You can download a manual for this camera at NODEVICE. The kink is below. Page 3 tells how to use the remote. At this time, these are fairly old cameras so even if you have the right battery for the remote it may not work. I have the earlier version of this camera and loved it. I mourn the passing of film. http://www.nodevice.com/user_manual/konica_minolta/compact_cameras/riva_zoom_75w_freedom_zoom_explorer_ex.html#.U8azzPldXnj

Need to clean my minolta 75-300mm internally

Do you have a lens collimator and other equipment necessary to ensure proper alignment when reassembling the lens? If not, take the lens to a reputable camera shop and have a properly trained and equipped professional do the cleaning.

Speedlight

In your Speedlight you can use 4 AA sized batteries. Alkaline, Lithium and rechargeable NiMH batteries. Be sure your batteries are charged, or new. Never use different type together. So all 4 should be same brand, same capacity and same date. When you did not use the speed light for a long time, two things could have happened. The contacts in the battery holder are dirty, or oxidised or the capacitor for the high voltage has leaked or dried out. The contacts you can clean if they are not oxidised to strong. Never use sharp tools to sanding paper to clean contacts. Just use a dry cloth. It the contacts are really dirty, put some contact oil on a cotton swap and rub the contacts for a while. Make sure you rub all the oil away, using the dry cloth. If old batteries, can't make the Speedlight sing, yes you should hear an oscillator, the on / off switch can be dirty or oxidised. If the oscillator runs, but the ready light does not go on, the capacitor is gone. Needs a technician to replace the cap.
