How do you backup, format and reinstall the OS from disc?

Hi, Back up your internal HD to an externa; drive using something like CarbonCopy Cloner or SuperDuper or even make a disc image of it onto the external drive.Insert your installation disc and restart the computer while holding down the C key. After a while you shoulod get the usual start=up signs and you can let go of the C.The Mac should thenm be starting from the CD/DVD and you will get a welcome to mac OS screen asking you what language yu want to work in. Choose whichever and then follow the instructions that appear on screen. Remember though, when you format, everything will be wiped from the HD.

Dance central disk for xbox 360 kinect, has a circle type scratch onthe back of the disk. Xbox will not let me play

Circular scratches are the most harmful to the disc's ability to play. You can try gently rinsing the disc under cool water and then drying thoroughly, bufffing with a soft clean towel. Depending on how big the scratch is, the disc may not be useable even after this, though. If it does work, be sure to always keep it in its case when not in use. Leaving CDs out is the surest way for this problem to recur.

I got dell Studio Laptop 1735 with windows vista service pack1 4.0GB RAM and I bought traktor SCRATCH PRO and kontroler x1 during the whole gig (90min.)i heard a cracking sound and in one moment traktor...

Well that Dell maybe 10 years old and time for a new one.

I use both Macs and PCs. There nothing wrong with using PC. With Macs you pay out the nose for power. Its bad enough to buy the average Mac with little power

The xbox is on with the green light and everything seems to be working, until you put a disk into the tray and it says reading then open tray, it makes no noise as though it is not spinning

Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.

· Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.

· Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays.

Unit wont read game disk. Plays Movie, and CD disk no problem..Any suggestions

Hi rico617,

There could be a couple of causes, and there could be a couple of solutions. The solutions may not be too fun though.

First possible problem:

1. Your discs could be scratched. If that's the case, clean them off as best you can with a soft cloth and all that. If that's not the case......

2. It could be that your disc drive is messed up.

If 1. didn't solve your problem, than here are some possible solutions regarding 2.

1. Your lens could be dirty, in which case you can try a lens cleaner (probably not the problem)

2. For many with this problem, formatting their hard drive (yes their hard drive, not disc tray) solves the problem. Unfortunately that's a major bummer because you'll lose everything on the drive.

3. If you're brave enough to go through the second one and it still doesn't solve it, you're going to have to send it in for repairs cause it looks like the disc tray is having incompatibility issues with your games (yeah I know it's dumb)

Best of luck man :)

How do I set my Everex Stepnote to factory default without the disc? When I used the original disc it wiped everything including boot manager and will not finish installing after half way through Copying...

THE ONLY THING I CAN SUGGEST IS THERE ARE BLEMISHS OR SCRATCHES ON YOUR DISK. FIRST CLEAN GENTLY WITH TISSUE AND WINDEX. THEN GO TO A GOOD CD OR DVD BURNER AND COPY THE DISK AT HALF SPEED PREFERRABLY. IF THERE IS NO DATA DAMAGE YOU WILL ACTUALLY REMOVE THE LIGHT SCRATCHES. IF YOU HAVE IRREPAIRABLY ERRORS YOUR DISK IS DAMAGED. FIND A XPOEM DISK AND RELOAD USING THE LEGAL KEY ON THE BACK OF YOUR LAPTOP.
