ERROR: 00008001
I try to synch with outlook and get the following message...
Your handheld has not previously been synchronized to the currently open Outlook profile (or you have changed your handheld user name).
If you have reset or renamed your handheld, open Outlook, click on "View/Folder List", locate and click on the PocketMirror folder, delete the user note, and re-synchronize.
If you want to add your Handheld to the list of authorized Handhelds to be synced with this Outlook profile, see the help file topic "Syncing Multiple Handhelds to the Same Profile".

I do not have a "View/Folder List" as a drop down in Outlook. I did find Chapura settings under TOOLS. I found the username and deleted it, but I still get the same message.
Any ideas?
View/Folder in Outlook
Open the Calendar
Click on "GO" on top Toolbar.
Click on "Folder List"
Should show "Pocket Mirror" Folder
( Cant access it from Mail Folder. The instructions are unclear in the Palm Help.) Took me ages to find the above
Even following the instructions by adding the Note in Pocket Mirror with the new handheld name I still get the same error as you and so GOOD LUCK!

Here are two resource pages which hopefully will help. The first is Palm support page with an update to download for users of Outlook 2003. The second is a discussion thread of Treo users troubleshooting the same problem. Even if the PDA is different, the issue (and error code) is practically the same, Rather than cut and paste what I think is relevant, read the thread and see if one of the solutions listed helps you.
This is how I got it working. Don't use wireless sync software, someting is definitely buggy with it.
Here is what I did to resolve sync errors:
1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm
2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old.
3. Connect the Treo to your computer.
4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom.
Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld.
5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now
PocketMirror does not control mail synch.
It's a common misconception that Chapura PocketMirror synchronizes email. It only synchs Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes from Outlook. The Mail or VersaMail conduit from palmOne is responsible for email synch.
It sounds to me like you have a bad record or two in your inbox. You could try moving all your current inbox messages to a temporary folder to see if this breaks the log jam. Then you can start to hunt for the bad one by replacing them in portions and re-synching.
The HotSync software on the Mac was never designed to cope with the scenario where you synch with a PC elsewhere. It assumes that you are performing a recovery synchronization when it sees that the handheld synched elsewhere. The assumption with the Palm OS was always that you synched one computer to one PDA. With more propsperous times, the software has not yet evolved at Palm Source (not part of Palm Inc any longer.)
With regards to PocketMirror, there is a setting to allow you to synch to more than one PC. The setting is buried deep in the PocketMirror settings for each of the four conduits. The setting allows PocketMirror to see more than one PC as your route to an Exchange server.
Tryy this -- Go to Chapura.com and purchase the pocket mirror software. I have Sprint service and that additional software has resolved my synch issues.
Answers on Chapura PocketMirror errors, Chapura maintains a really good database of fixes for errors with their PocketMirror Outlook PIM conduits.
Copied from the site:
First, make sure you are running the latest version of PocketMirror version 3.1.7. To check which version you are currently running, please see Chapura FAQ PM089.
If you are still receiving the same error after installing the latest version of PocketMirror then continue with the following steps. If Option 1 does not resolve the issue, then move onto Option 2 and so on:
Option 1:
Run the Outlook 2000/2002/2003 "Detect and Repair" utility (You will need the Office/Outlook CD-ROM).
1. In Outlook click "Help/Detect and Repair".
2. After the repair is complete, reboot your computer and synchronize your handheld.
Option 2:
If you are running Windows XP and this error is occurring, please perform the steps in Chapura FAQ PM198.
Option 3:
If this OLE error occurs ONLY when synchronizing with Outlook closed, then please see Chapura FAQ PM053 "Outlook Backup Add-in causes HotSync failure when Outlook is closed."
Option 4:
If you have a laptop computer and are running Windows 2000/Outlook 2000, this OLE error may be caused if your laptop goes into sleep/hibernate mode when Outlook is open. To fix this problem reboot your computer and try to synchronize your handheld again. In the future make sure Outlook is closed when your computer "hibernates".
Option 5:
Uninstall and reinstall 3rd party conduits such as the TakeNote, DayNotez, PocketQuicken, QuickWord, Quicksheet, etc. To check for these conduits:
1. Click on the HotSync Manager icon (circular red/blue arrows on the bottom right of your PC screen, see image.) Note: The HotSync Manager icon may be hidden on Windows XP, please click the round white arrow button (see image) to unhide the icon.
HotSync Manager Icon Example
2. Click on "Custom".
If you see any of the above mentioned program conduits listed in the "Custom" screen ABOVE the PocketMirror conduits (Outlook Calendar, Outlook Contacts, Outlook Tasks & Outlook Notes) then uninstall any of these 3rd party programs. To do this go to "Start/Settings/Control Panel" or "Start/Control Panel" and double-click on Add/Remove programs. Then reinstall these programs from the original source media.
Option 6:
If you are using Outlook 98/2000, please follow the steps in Chapura FAQ PM108 "How do I change Outlook from "Internet Only" to "Corporate/Workgroup" Mode?"
I think the message means what it says. You will have to setup these events manually as individuals to get this event to synch. The message is literally telling you that this repitition style is supported by Outlook but not by the Calendar in your handheld.
Another way to go might be to use Chapura PocketMirror conduits instead. It may be more forgiving and be able to deal with this event type. This will cost you however to find out.
Check you sync part of your desktop program and make sure you have outlook checked for transfer. Right click on Synch on bottom tray and select custom set uo
Start > My computer > Tools > Folder options > General tab click on show hidden files and folders > Apply ok
