Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

My marantz cdr300 keeps saying OPC error no matter what cd I put in it. Can you help?

I get the same problem, and I use Maxell Music CDs as the recorder won't take anything else. Sometimes a message comes up saying, bad CD

After finishing a recording, is there a step before pressing "finalize"?

No that is the last step once all the desired data has been recorded on the CD

I have a Marantz CDR 615 and it won't let me record anything-any help would begreat thanks

What kind of error are you getting? Does it attempt to calibrate then display the entire disc as being full? If that try a blank that will tolerate recording at the 1x speed. Nowadays the only thing you will likely find are discs meant for audio recording or data discs that can record at speeds as low as 1x. If you can find some of the earlier kodak, Ampex/Quantegy, japanese maxells, etc then you will be okay. Also it may not be obvious but the cdr 615/620 will not record on cd-rw's
I bought one of those new and had nothing but trouble out of the phillips cdd2000 module that had to be replaced 3 times (3rd time at my expense of $300) but Superscope in Aurora, IL was good about support. Ironically I seam to remember a class action suit against Phillips over their very flaky cdd2000 drives.

Marantz CDR-510: Playback is good , recording is distorted

If this brand of media is new to you and the symptom is unique to it, I'd try a different brand.

Monitoring during record would never reveal media problems as there is no immediate playback after record as on old-school 3-head tape recorders.

I've had similar intermittent problems and I never could find a pattern to it except that it always seemed to be on low-end media. My best advice would be to try to find a pattern in your instance and make a change that avoids it. Then publish what you learned for us.

Good luck.

CDR tray

it's more than likely the servo board which is fixed under the mechanism.
this is very common but i'm not sure which component fails on the board but i've always got hold of donor recorders and switched the servo boards and all was fine.

CDR error means the trouble is in the laser eye,maybe the eye is faulty already or dirty. If the laser eye is dirty,then you need to clean it with a cotton buds.Open the unit then wipe the laser eye tenderly with the cotton buds or buy a DVD / CD cleaner kit.Just click this link;

CDR is not working

have a look on ebay for a cheap working donor recorder as spares are very expensive and very hard to get hold of.
i'm guessing your recorder either doesn't read discs, or it won't eject? which is very common and means either the servo board is faulty or the laser.

The following recorders i know off hand for a donor mechanism are:

MARANTZ DR-6050
PHILIPS CDR-775
PHILIPS CDR-770

if it proves to be just a faulty laser, all 3 of the above have the same laser unit.
if it proves to be a faulty servo board, all 3 have the same servo boards except if you fit one out of a philips model it will show 'PHILIPS CD RECORDER' on the display at power up but will still work nontheless.
obviously if a marantz is found it will show 'MARANTZ CD RECORDER' as normal.

hope this helps.
