I unplugged the power cable from the back of my UN40c5000 Samsung (40"LED) and when I plugged the cable back in there is now no power to the TV. I.e. the red light isn't on at all. The plug socket is definitely working and I've tried another power cable with the same specs. The TV was off when I unplugged the power cable. The TV was purchased new a year ago.

Just make sure that power is reaching the innards of the set. Does not appear so.

SOURCE: Plasma TV-power light does not come on

Hello!

most probably the fuse inside the circuit blown out, You should open the back of the tv to become circuit board visible. But this hard when novice do it.

To be sure that everything will be alright i would rather suggest you to bring the tv to the nearest service center. maybe warranty work for that.

best regards,melnavz

SOURCE: Samsung FPT 5084X won't turn on

Sorry, but welcome to the world of highly efficient, component-critical switching power supplies.
These are all of those things and the failure often is related to a specific type of component, an electrolytic capacitor. These are chemical devices and cheap ones fail easily, the most expensive take little longer but the primary value shrinks while the losses climb until the part cannot do what it should any more.
The main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core (no laminations as with a line-frequency part) transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.

Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.

If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply and install it yourself but it will likely have the same problem eventually unless they have altered the design.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.

Check the fuse on the power board also check and replace any swollen capacitors on the power board. If still no power then replace the power board.

Have a Samsung 65” led tv. Model # UN65H6203BF. LED back light blinks and red status light blinks when power plugged in. Changed Power Supply(used but good), no Change, all still blinks. Can unplug main...

You may have a back lights problem.

To test the back lights, you need to disconnect the cable between the main power supply & the main board, apply the AC power to the power supply, if the back lights are not light up, or blinks, the back light are defective.

How do I fix my Samsung 40 LED TV that has sound but no picture?

Here is what to check when your TV is turned on, power light is ON, but no picture is seen or sound is heard:

1 - Be sure the component you are using (Xbox, Cable, SAT, ROKU) is turned ON.
2 - Check to be sure all cable and cords are securely connected to the TV inputs and component outputs.
3 - Make sure you are on the correct input as some TV's will show a black screen if there is nothing connected to that input.
4 - Unplug the input you are trying to use from the TV (such as an HDMI Cable) and plug it back in.
5 - Check for signs of damage on all cords and cables from the TV to all components.
6 - Make sure the TV is not in ENERGY SAVE MODE, press the button on the remote control to go back to normal mode.
7 - Unplug the TV for 10 minutes to see if there was a temporary one time issue with the TV.
8 - Disconnect the TV from power for 2 minutes, then when plugging it back in PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV FOR 10 to 20 SECONDS to try and force the TV to reset.
9 - If after checking all these different issues, you may have a Faulty Power Supply Board, A Bad Capacitor on the Power Supply Board, Loose Wire Harness, or Loose Ribbon Connector in the TV itself.
10 - Most likely when a TV has the power light ON but NO PICTURE and NO SOUND, it is the Power Supply Board that has failed.

BTW, here are solutions for you to play iTunes movies on Samsung smart TV

It has sound but not picture, please help

Hello. Repairing your own TV isn't something I recommend. You risk injury, and could cause more damage. If you still want to proceed, remove the back of the TV. Unplug the cable between the Main board (the one the inputs connect to) and the Power board (the one the AC cord plugs into). Then plug in the AC cord. If the backlights come on, you probably have a bad Main. If they don't, it's likely the panel, which is expensive.

Need update for 42inch flat panel tv

What update?
The likelihood of a firmware update for a TV is beyond calculation. These tvs are churned out like toys until the next season's toys are ready to make. The old moldels are forgotten and NO money is spent on updates or spare parts.

Dear Guru, im Peter thanks 4 ur quick response however my problem still remains with LED samsung 40''...i have no display just standby red light it connected with cable (satellite televion) and remote...

Hello Peter, my suggestion is unplug your cable satelite (STB) conection.
Turn on the TV and see if there are changes or is still standby.
If your TV like normal after unplug satelite tv (STB) connection, you should check you STB.
If still not working, try to unplug AC cord from power line. Wait until led display indicator off, that plug again. If it still not working, i think you should call samsung technician to check you tv.
thanks.

We have a similar problem when changing channels/surfing, the TV will begin to power cycle, until you unplug THE CABLE TV input, then it will turn on again and stay on as you rehook the cable and change channels....till it decides to do it again, DTV channels seem to trip it up, but not sure....if I leave it on the same channel it will run for days. Yep and the cable TV is grounded outside
