GE JVM1540sn1ss Microwave loses all power including interior light, control panel, etc. I have to set the clock each time. I can wiggle door or control panel and power comes back on. I appears there is a loose connection somewhere.

It may be a loose fuse holder or a rare condition, an intermittent fuse.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

Samsung Over-The-Range Microwave Oven just went out, wont come on at all.

Hello Terrell,

If "wont come on at all" means no light when door is open, no clock, nothing, then assume complete loss of power to that circuit.
These are often powered by an isolated circuit with its own breaker. The first place to look is your power distribution panel and see if you can find a tripped breaker.
If yes, then reset the breaker and see if the microwave has lights, clock, etc.
If no breakers are tripped, the actual microwave plug is often in a cabinet above the microwave. Sometimes, these may get pulled out while moving items in and out of the cabinet, so check that too.
If unsuccessful, microwaves also include an internal line and/or thermal fuse which fail due to overloading. Also, the control panel can go bad or become unplugged from slamming the door, etc.
If you do have lights, clock etc., then a faulty door latch will prevent operation of the microwave generator.

Unfortunately, will need additional information to properly identify the potential.
I hope this helps.

I have a GE Spacemaker JVM1540SN1SS. It stopped working without any warning: no light or clock or anything. Just dead weight. Any ideas?

It indicates the main fuse in the microwave oven has opened, probably one of the main parts have failed, possible causes, magnetron, inverter board, and the keypad control board.

Control panel not working

If "control panel not working" means no display, clock not on, etc. but the interior light comes on when the door is opened(power is being received and transmitted from transformer\rectifier) I would check to see if power is being received by control panel(with a multimeter, checking for voltage at the input terminals). If it is receiving power but not working, the "repair clinic" on the internet is a great place to look for replacement parts.

Hi, my problem is with my GE advantium speedcook microwave oven. When using 'speedcook' feature, the oven starts, then there is sparking inside the circuit board area, followed by a loud POP, and this...

  • Select the "Options" menu and adjust the clock display settings if the display is blank. Set the clock if the oven won't start. The clock must be set for the oven to work properly, as oven programming is dependent on the clock.
  • Close the door tightly if the oven won't start. The oven won't start if the door isn't closed. You can identify from the lights whether the oven failing to start is related to the door or to the power supply. If the control panel is illuminated and interior lights are on when you open the oven door, you can be sure the oven is receiving power and any starting problems are due to the door not being closed tightly.
  • Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button if the oven performs strangely. Be sure to hold it for a few seconds. This will reset the GE Advantium.
But as you mentioned that there is /was a loud noise this is a indication of the unit make any usual noise (groaning, gurgling, etc.?) or was / is it either louder or quieter than normal? It may be as simple as the top door switch or its mount or it may be a bad magnetron or shorted diode.

    Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

GE 1800 XL not heating, no power, except fan works and clock also

    Hello :

It could be bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

or it could be problem with the control panel .

    good luck .

    please rate !

    JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

    GE Spacemaker Microwave Clock inop

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
