Most washing machines have a pump filter to protect the pump from obstructions such as coins. The pump filter should be at the front of the washing machine at the bottom left or right. It should be obvious (a square or round flap) but sometimes the filter is hidden behind the front kickstrip panel. A good washing machine filter should have retractable pipe at the side so that you can drain the water into a bowl.

The best way to find out if your washing machine has a pump filter is to read the instruction book. However, you can carefully remove the kickstrip at the front of the washing machine (if fitted) to see if there is a hidden filter. Be careful because they are often flimsy and brittle and can break easily. The kickstrip usually clips into place with about 3 tabs but as I say, they are sometimes easily broken. I usually place a small flat-bladed screwdriver between the top of the kickstrip and the casing and then gently lever downwards whilst pulling forward.

Examples of washing machines that sometimes have a hidden filter are Indesit, Candy and Hoover. Most washing machines do not hide the pump filter. Hotpoint and Creda often have a pump filter hidden in the sump hose (leading to the pump from the tub), which is not meant to be customer accessible. This is a stupid place to put a pump filter because when it gets blocked, most people are forced to call out an engineer.
Taking the pump filter out

The filter should unscrew anti-clockwise. Some unscrew until they come out and some just unscrew a quarter of a turn or so and allow the filter to be pulled out. Make sure you have at least one large towel to catch water and don't take it out at all if the washing machine still has water in the drum (see next paragraph if it has).

Cleaning Inglis washing machine IP41003.

Wonderful product on the market called "Affresh" comes in a tablet form. Place one tablet in the basket, and start the "hottest" and "longest" cycle and let it run. Be sure to leave the lid open or up when not in use, and be sure to keep that boot clean. The filter should be removed and cleaned "they say" every 3-5 months, but I tell my customers it depends on how you use and take care of the machine. If you forget to clean your pockets, get coins or pens, or use "smaller" items of clothes without a garment bag, then check more often. Also if you have small or very young children, check more often. Easy way to tell, pull out filter (watch for the water), and see whats in it. If it has a bunch of stuff, check it more often, nothing in it, maybe once a year.

Cleaning the filter on frigidaire ultraquiet dishwasher

Hello Friend,

I see that you are wondering how to clean the filter on your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB1050REC. The inside of your dishwasher is self-cleaning with normal use. If needed, clean around the tub gasket area with a damp cloth.

The filter is self-cleaning. A glass trap located in the center of the filter is designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, bones, and pits. To remove this glass trap, grasp the handle, lift out, empty it and replace it. Hope this helps.

-Best Regards-

Everytime i turn my air on it flashes a code E1 and i was wondering what that code meant???? please help its hot out lol

E1-Automatic filter clean reminder.

Turn the air conditioner OFF and unplug it. NOTE: The air conditioner must be unplugged for the automatic filter clean timer to reset.

Clean the filter. See the Care and Cleaning section in your use&care manual. After cleaning, replace the filter and plug the air conditioner back in.

It doesn't empty the water from the bottom wondering if i need to clean the filter ?

Yes!

You should be cleaning the filter regularly anyway (Between 1 - 6 months depending on usage of the machine)>

If there is water in there now that wont empty, pull the machine out and tip it back 45 degrees sop you can remove the filter without the remaining water spilling out all over you and your floor

Need to clean air filter of burned popcorn smell

You would be better off to replace the filter. Purchase two and use the first one to capture the remaining smoke residue. Then install the other clean one to keep microwave free of smell. Check the web site www.partselect.com for the replacement filter. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange
