How do I secure/lick my broadband service so none of my neighbours can log onto it and it only allows my house hold to use it?

Hi, Inorder to make your wireless network secure you could enable a password for your network which would be required for logging into the network. Please visit the below website to access the screenshots that would be helpful for you to setup a password for your wireless network. http://www.pcwintech.com/screenshots-netgear-wgr614-v7-netgear-firmware Once you are at the website click on each of the screenshots to follow setting up the router for first use.If the router is configured and you would only like to secure your wireless connection then click on the wireless settings where you would find the SSID(name of your wireless network) and below secure options you could select the the type of security after which you need to enter a pass-phrase the box below. You would be able to access the router page form your computer by opening an Internet explorer and type into the address barhttp://192.168.1.1 or
http://192.168.0.1 .
Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.

I keep getting this ip address showing on my computer network box ip 192.168.1.3 how do i get rid of it?

It's most likely the IP address of your computer (as determined by the DHCP server in the router.
Why do you want to get rid of it? Your computer has to have an IP address.

Open block sites

A. Determining the IP Address and MAC Address of a Computer:

Note: Please use the computer for which the Ports are to be opened:

For Windows 2000/XP users:

1. Please click on Start and select Run.
2. Type in cmd and click on OK.
3. In the Command Prompt, please type ipconfig/all then press Enter or Return key.
4. Please make sure that the Ethernet adapter has an IP Address that is the same range as the router (e.g. 192.168.1.2 for the computer and 192.168.1.1 for the router).
5. Please note down the IP address and Physical address.

B. Reserving an IP Address:

1. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. When the setup page opens, click on LAN IP Setup under Advanced tab.
5. Click on Add under Address Reservation.
6. Under Address Reservation window, please select the radio button of the computer you wish to add from the Address Reservation Table.
7. If the computer you want is not on the list, please click on the Refresh button to update the table.
8. If the computer is still not on the Address Reservation Table, please type in the IP Address, MAC Address (Physical Address), and Device Name of the computer you wish to add.
9. Click the Add button when done.

C. Enabling DMZ:

1. On the left side of the setup page, click on the WAN Setup under Advanced tab.
2. Check the Default DMZ Server and specify the IP address of your computer.
3. Click on the Apply button.

Disable internet access

Access your router Setup page
Open internet explorer go to http://192.168.1.1 (default) username: admin (default) password: "leave it blank" (default)
Go to Security go to Filter
if you know that Ipaddress of the computer you want to block for example 192.168.1.10
You can create up to five different IP Address Range filters   Users who have  filtered  IP addresses will not be able  to  access the  Internet at all   If you only want to filter one  IP  address instead of a range of IP addresses, enter the same  value into both fields  For instance, if you wish to filter the  PC with  the  IP  address of 192 168 1 5, enter 5  into both  fields on one line: 192 168 1 5 ~ 192 168 1 5

if you know the MAC address of the computer click the Edit MAC Filter Setting and input the MAC address you want to block.
blocking by MAC address is the most effective solution to block a computer... while blocking by ip address will be easily bypass by changing the ip add of the pc

then saved your settings and reboot..

In Italy, have Netgear router, can only get google

The first thing to do is ensure they haven't been blocked in the router. To do this, log into your router and click Block Sites on the left hand side. If they are not displayed there, make sure it's not a DNS issue. To do this, log into your router and click Basic Settings. The change your DNS servers, to the OpenDNS servers; 1. Locate "Domain Name Server (DNS) Address " 2. Change the setting to "Use These DNS Servers" Primary: 208.67.222.222 Secondary: 208.67.220.220 3. Click Apply, and re-boot your router IMPORTANT: If your router is already set to "Use These DNS Servers", make sure to make a note of the IP's already in there, just incase you want to switch back, or the OpenDNS servers do not work (unlikely but possible). Once re-booted, try accessing the previously blocked websites. If you find they are still unavailable, check they aren't blocked directly on your computer (e.g. via a firewall or other security product). To do this, click Start > Run and type: CMD At the prompt, enter the following and press return (do this for each line below); nslookup {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} >> nslookup.txt tracert {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} >> tracert.txt Where {BLOCKED_DOMAIN} is one of the domains you cannot access. nslookup will provide the website's current IP for you. Aslong as this is NOT an internal IP (169.*, 172.*, 192.*, 10.*), it is resolving correctly. Tracert will allow a trace connection from your computer, to the affected websites. Lines you do not want, will contain a *.
