WHEN YOU START YOUR PC OR LAPTOP YOU HAVE TO GO INTO SYSTEM SETUP, EITHER F2 F10 IT WILL DISPLAY WHAT TO PUSH FOR SYSTEM SETUP AT YOUR 1ST BOOT SCREEN. WHEN YOU GET TO SYSTEM SETUP YOU HAVE TO GO TO TIME AND DATE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE TIME AND DATE IS ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD OR MORE, JUST SO TODAY IT WILL LOOK LIKE JUNE 10 2011. THEN CLICK ON SAVE AND EXIT. AND IF IT DOES THE SAME THING THEN YOUR CMOS BATTER NEEDS TO BE CHAINGED ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD. FOR DESKTOPS THE ARE USUALLY LOCKED INTO A LITTLE WHITE PLASTIC HOLDER AND LOOKS LIKE A NICKEL YOU WILL SEE A + FOR POSITIVE AND 3V FOR 3 VOLTS

P4P800 - VM BIOS Version 1012 to Upgrade 1018 Now CMOS can't save Date & Time

I'm sorry to have to say this but your CMOS battery connection is bad. There is basically nothing you can do other than replace the whole motherboard if it is too much of a problem.

One of my many computers is like this as well. I'm lucky in that as long as I leave that computer plugged in (it doesn't need to be turned on just plugged in), the CMOS won't reset its self. If you aren't that lucky then I would seek out a replacement motherboard.

HI,

You need to change the Cmos battery(keeps the Date and Time current). If you open your case, you'll see a big battery (Quarter size). You can buy a new one in your local computer shop or online they are cheap. When you replace it make sure to ground yourself (touch some piece of metal) Otherwise you may damage your computer

How to connect cmos cables for this motherboard series?

The date and time are incorrect. The CMOS battery may need changing unless you haven't set the date and time.

Press either F2 or Delete on boot.

I have a Dell dimension 9150 which is 2 1/2 years old. Does it have a battery that I need to be concerned about replacing. I remember that used to be a problem with computers but don't know if that is...

Hi,
Every PC motherboard has a battery. That battery serves two purposes: to feed the configuration memory (also called CMOS) and to feed the real time clock of the computer (the one that show the date and the time).
An indication it is time to change the motherboard battery is receiving one of the following error messages when you turn on your computer: CMOS CHECKSUM FAILURE, CMOS BATTERY STATE LOW, CMOS SYSTEM OPTIONS NOT SET and CMOS TIME AND DATE NOT SET. Another indicator of a low battery is a clock that, after being set, runs well while the computer is on, but shows the wrong time when the computer is turned on the following day (it is late).

Bios date and time problem

You need to replace the cmos battery in your computer. Theu are usually Cr2032 batteries which you should be able to pick up for about £1.

unplug your computer and open the case.
When you look at the motherboard you should be able to easily locate the cmos battery cliped onto the mobo.
Take the old battery out and insert the new one.
put the case back on and plug the pc into the mains again.
You will need to re-enter the date etc the next time you boot up, but the settings should be retained after that.
